Graft rejection

Breast cancer

Mechanism of action of Everolimus


Everolimus is an anti-cancer medication, a mammalian target of rapamycin kinase (mTOR), and a serine-threonine kinase inhibitor. It produces its action by binding with the FKBP-12, an intracellular protein and thus inhibiting the mTOR kinase pathway. It also reduces the activity of the S6 ribosomal protein kinase and eukaryotic initiation factor 4E-binding protein. Everolimus inhibits the hypoxia-inducible factor expression and also reduces the expression of vascular endothelial growth factors.
