It is an important medicinal plant that is used in the treatment of various ailments. The botanical name for Adoosa is Adhathoda vasica Nees which belongs to the Acanthaceae family. According to Ayurveda, it is called Vasa which is widely used to treat whooping cough, bronchitis, and asthma

ORIGIN AND SOURCE OF ADOOSA

In India, it usually grows in an Indian subcontinent region and it is also distributed in Sri Lanka, Nepal, Pakistan, Indonesia, Malaysia, and China.

It is a herbaceous plant where the trunk of the plant has long, opposite, numerous branches. The leaves are lance-shaped and oppositely arranges with short petioles. The flowers are white and purple. The fruits look like capsule

  • It is considered unsafe to use this herb while you are pregnant and breastfeeding
  • It is contraindicated to use this herb if you are pregnant because it may increase the contraction of the uterine and it also increases the release of prostaglandins
