WHAT IS AGNIMANTHA

It is an important medicinal plant that is used in the treatment of various ailments. The botanical name for Agnimantha is Premna integrifolia, Clerodendrum phlomidis which belongs to the Verbenaceae family. Here Agni means Fire and Mantha means Churning.

ORIGIN AND SOURCE OF AGNIMANTHA

It is mostly found in dried parts and is widely distributed throughout India. In India, it is found in Upper Gigantic plains, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, and Orissa. It is also found in the Banks of Ganges and Bengal

It is a small tree that grows up to 9 meters and it has yellow bark and brown colored root. The leaves are simple, ovate, and opposite. The flowers of this herb are white with an unpleasant smell. The fruits look like saucer shapes. Usually, the flower appears from April to June

BENEFITS OF AGNIMANTHA

Rheumatoid arthritis:

According to Ayurveda, Rheumatoid arthritis is called Amavata. It mainly occurs due to the imbalance of Vata dosha and the accumulation of toxins that occurs due to improper digestion and this toxin is carried to different parts of the body through Vata and gets accumulated in the joints. The use of agnimantha helps to improve digestion and reduce the accumulation of toxins by its hot properties. This also balances the Vata and reduces the symptoms associated with rheumatoid arthritis.

Osteoarthritis:

Traditional view: According to Ayurveda, Osteoarthritis is called Sandhivata and it occurs due to the imbalance of Vata dosha which causes pain, inflammation, and joint movement. The use of Agnimantha helps to reduce the symptoms of arthritis by balancing the imbalance of Vata dosha

Diabetes mellitus:

According to Ayurveda, diabetes is known as Madhumeha. It occurs due to the imbalance of Vata and Kapha dosh and impaired digestion. Impaired digestion leads to the accumulation of toxins in the pancreatic cells and affects insulin function. The use of Agnimantha control diabetes by maintaining the function of insulin normally by balancing the Vata-Kapha and improves impaired digestion by reducing the accumulation of toxins which is responsible for impaired digestion.

Cholesterol:

According to Ayurveda, high cholesterol occurs due to an imbalance of Pachak Agni (digestive fire). This impaired digestion occurs due to the accumulation of toxins in the body which leads to the accumulation of cholesterol and causes obstruction in blood vessels. The use of Agnimantha helps to improve the improper digestion by its Deepan (appetizer) and Pachan (digestive) produces which remove the accumulation of bad cholesterol and main normal cholesterol level

Piles:

According to Ayurveda, Piles is called Arsh usually occurs due to the imbalance of Vata, Pitta, and Kapha doshas this leads to constipation and cause edema in the rectal veins which leads to piles. The use of Agnimantha helps to treat constipation and by reducing the size of the pile mass by balancing the three doshas.

Nervous pain:

According to Ayurveda, nerve pain occurs due to the imbalance of Vata doshas this occurs due to the blockage in the blood flow. By applying the paste of agnimantha on an affected area to reduce the pain by balancing Vata

Obesity:

Obesity occurs due to lifestyle modifications which lead to poor digestive fire and this increases the accumulation of toxins in the body and causes an imbalance in the Meda dhatu which results in obesity. The use of Agnimantha helps to reduce the body weight by its Deepan (appetizer) and Pachan (digestive) properties and it also helps to improve the metabolism and remove the extra fluid or toxins from the body

Common cold:

According to Ayurveda, common cold occurs due to the imbalance of Kapha and poor digestion which leads to the accumulation of toxins in the body and this reaches the lungs as sputum and causes cold and cough. The use of Agnimantha improve the poor digestion and balancing the Kapha 


HOW CAN YOU ADD AGNIMANTHA IN YOUR DAILY LIFE?

AgnimanthaPaani:

  • 120 grams coarse powder of Agnimantha roots is taken in 480 grams drinkable water and boiled. This water is called AgnimanthaPani or Agnimantha Water.
  • This water should be taken in dosage of 60 to 120 ml 2 to 3 times a day.
  • If you have a poor appetite, then it should be taken before food and if you have poor digestive capacity, then it should be taken an hour after a meal.
  •  For Chyluria Like Agaru leaves, it can also be used in combination with Haritaki decoction.
  • For Utricaria, 2 grams Agnimantha root powder can be used along with 125 mg YashadBhasma for good results. The treatment with this remedy should continue for 1 to 2 weeks or until complete relief.
  • For Obesity, 20 ml Agnimantha leaf juice should be taken twice daily for at least 3 months to get promising results.
  • For Neuralgia, 100 ml AgnimanthaKwath should be given along with 125 mg Mukta Pishti and 125 mg Rajat Bhasma (RaupyaBhasma) twice daily for the best results.
  • For Lymphadenitis, In lymphadenitis, Agnimantha root powder should be taken in dosage of 2 grams twice daily with water. In addition to this, an herbal paste prepared from fresh Agnimantha leaves and bamboo leaves should also be applied to the swelling externally
  • For Arthritis and any other vadha related diseases, It gives the best cure out of all anti vadha medicines.
