WHAT IS APARAJITA

It is an important medicinal plant that is used in the treatment of various ailments. It is popularly known as rejuvenating herb. The botanical name for Aparajita is Clitoria ternatea which belongs to the Fabaceae family. It is widely used as a brain tonic and is also grown as an ornamental plants

ORIGIN AND SOURCE OF APARAJITA

It is originated from South America and in tropical America. It is a perennial climber which grows at the height of 2.5 meters. This plant usually grows in grasslands, bushlands, and disturbed forests. The leaves are arranged in 2-3 pairs and it is bright green and the leaflets are 1.5-5 cm wide. The flowers are clitoris in shape and it is 4cm in length and 3 cm in wide. Usually flowering occurs from June to November. The fruits are 5-7cm in length which is consumed when they are young and soft

BENEFITS OF APARAJITA

Diabetes:

According to Ayurveda, diabetes is known as Madhumeha. It occurs due to the imbalance of Vata and Kapha dosh and impaired digestion. Impaired digestion leads to the accumulation of toxins in the pancreatic cells and affects insulin function. The use of Aparajita control diabetes by maintaining the function of insulin normally by balancing the Vata-Kapha and improves impaired digestion by reducing the accumulation of toxins which is responsible for impaired digestion.

Asthma:

According to the Ayurveda, asthma occurs due to the imbalance of Vata and Kapha doshas in the lungs which results in obstruction in the passages in the respiratory. According to Ayurveda, menorrhagia is called Raktapradar which occurs due to the imbalance of Pitta dosha. The use of Aparajita balances the imbalance of Pitta dosha and helps to regulate the heavy bleeding by its Sita (cold) and Kashaya (astringent) properties

Indigestion:

According to Ayurveda, indigestion is called Agnimandya that occurs due to the imbalance of Pitta dosha and poor digestive fire which leads to the accumulation of toxins in the body and causes indigestion. The use of Aparajita balances the Pitta dosha and improves digestion.

  • Roast the seed and grind it into a powder and consume this with lukewarm water to treat constipation
  • The extract is prepared from the leaves. Warm it and mix it with salt. Apply this on earaches
  • To treat elephantiasis take the roots and make them as a paste by adding little water. Apply this to an affected area
