belongs to the Asteraceae family. It is extensively used to produce a coffee

It is
originated from Europe and in India, North-west India, Punjab, Andhra Pradesh,

It is also cultivated in Bihar, Gujarat, Tamil Nadu, Himachal Pradesh, Orissa,
and Kerala.
It is a
perennial plant that grows 1-3m in height and 75 cm in length. It is usually
found in high temperatures during the vegetative and reproductive growth stage.
Roots are fleshy and tapering. The stem 1-3 long branches are rigid, leaf
nerves, beneath. The dried fruit and seed are yellowish-brown and the length is
1-3 mm and breath 1-2 mm. The seeds are sown in March- April in hills and
October to November in plains.
