WHAT IS VATSNABH

It is an important medicinal plant that is used in the treatment of various ailments. The botanical name for Vatsnabh is Aconitum ferox which belongs to the Ranunculaceae family. It is a poisonous herb and it is called Monk’s Hood.

ORIGIN AND SOURCE OF VATSNABH

It is originated in India and grows in the high alpine Himlayan region up to an altitude of 10,000 to 15,000 feet. It is widely distributed in West Bengal and the Hills of Darjeeling.

It is a perennial and herbaceous plant that grows up to 3 feet in height. The leaves are cleft, simple, and alternate in shape. The leaves are larger and it grows smaller. The roots of this plant are brown in color outside and yellow colour in inside. The fruits look like a helmet. The flowers and fruit starts to appear in July to November
