ORIGIN AND SOURCE OF YAVASA

Yavasa is widely distributed from the Mediterranean and Sahara to central Asia. In India, it is found the Himalayas, Ganges valley, Kashmir, Punjab, Bihar, Rajasthan, and Gujarat.

It is a perennial plant that originates from the rhizome and extends up to 6 feet into the ground. The shoots are 200 feet from the parent plant. It bears the gray-green, long spine on branches. It contains small brown legume pods that are constricted between the seeds.
