Adsunib 12.5 Capsule contains Sunitinib 12.5 used to treat cancers of the stomach, intestines, esophagus, pancreas, or kidneys. It works by inhibiting the activity of an abnormal protein that signals the cancer cells to multiply and it also helps to stop the growth of cancer cells. It is not recommended for children.

It is used in the treatment of the following conditions as Gastrointestinal stromal tumor, Renal cell carcinoma, and pancreatic neuroendocrine tumors.

Gastrointestinal stromal tumors

It is a soft tissue sarcoma that is located in any part of your digestive system. Symptoms include weight loss, difficulty in swallowing, abdominal pain, anemia, vomiting, and blood in stools.

Renal cell carcinoma

It is a common type of kidney cancer found in adults. It is caused by obesity, smoking cigarettes, polycystic kidney disease, and some genetic condition. Symptoms include blood in urine, loss of appetite, weight loss, tiredness, and fever.

Pancreatic neuroendocrine tumors

It is used as an orphan drug in the treatment of soft tissue sarcoma and thyroid cancers

 

Adsunib 12.5 Capsule contains Sunitinib 12.5 is an anti-cancer medication, a Tyrosine kinase inhibitor. It produces its action by inhibiting tyrosine present in receptors like platelet-derived growth factor, vascular endothelial growth factor, stem cell factor, colony stem cell factor that mediates the signaling required for proliferation. It inhibits the phosphorylation of kinase present in receptors thus signaling processes required for angiogenesis and proliferation of abnormal cells are inhibited. This shrinks the abnormal cells and minimizes metastasis thus treating and controlling cancers.

Drug-Drug Interaction

Lefamulin

It is contraindicated to use this medicine because the use of lefamulin will increase the effect of sunitinib by affecting its hepatic and intestinal enzyme metabolism.

Deferiprone

Use alternative drugs because the combination of this medicine either increases the toxicity of the other by pharmacodynamic synergism.

Afatinib

Use alternative drugs because the use of this medicine increases the effect of afatinib by P-glycoprotein efflux transporter.

Albuterol

Therapy should be administered with caution because the combination of this medicine increases the QTc interval

Drug-Food Interaction

The use of grapefruit juice increases the blood level of Sunitinib and also increases the risk of side effects such as dizziness, confusion, hallucinations, mood changes, insomnia, drowsiness, congestive heart failure, and QT prolongation.

Lung toxicity

Therapy should be administered with caution in patients who are with a history of interstitial pneumonia and pulmonary fibrosis because the use of these multikinase inhibitors may cause pulmonary toxicity.

Liver disease

Closely monitor the patient bilirubin level in patients with hepatic impairment while you are receiving this medicine. Therapy should be administered with caution because the use of this medicine associated with hepatoxicity

Cardiovascular events

Therapy should be administered with caution because the use of this medicine is associated with cardiovascular events including heart failure, cardiomyopathy, myocardial ischemia, and myocardial infarction.

Proteinuria

Therapy should be administered with caution in patients with renal dysfunction because the use of this medicine may cause proteinuria and hematuria

QT prolongation

Therapy should be administered with caution in patients with congenital QTc syndrome because the use of this medicine may cause dose-dependent QT prolongation.
