Alfagaba NT Tablet contains Gabapentin 400mg and Nortriptyline 10mg is a combination of tricyclic antidepressants and GABA analogs used to treat neuropathic pain. The combination of this medicine produces its action by inhibiting the movement of pain signals to the brain and decreases pain.

• Therapy should be administered with caution in patients with urinary retention, hyperthyroidism, seizure disorder, brain tumor, respiratory impairment, bipolar mania
• The use of this medicine may cause bone marrow suppression, orthostatic hypotension, and sedation
• The use of this medicine may increase the risk of anticholinergic side effects, and mydriasis
• Therapy should be administered with caution in patients with cardiovascular disease, diabetes mellitus, hepatic and renal impairment
• The use of this  medicine may cause rhabdomyolysis, angioedema, and anaphylaxis reaction
• The use of this medicine may increase the risk of suicidal thoughts
• The use of this medicine may cause CNS depression, and impair the ability to operate heavy machinery

• You have a history of gastrointestinal disease
• You are not responding to the treatment
• You have experienced any allergic reactions like rashes and itching
• You are suffering from depression      
• You have watery diarrhea, stomach pain, and fever

Drug-Drug Interaction

Dronedarone + Nortriptyline

Dronedarone will increase the effect of nortriptyline by affecting the hepatic enzyme metabolism. The use of this drug is contraindicated because it increases the risk of ventricular tachycardia

Phenelzine + Nortriptyline

A combination of these drugs increases the serotonin level. The use of this drug is contraindicated

Albuterol + Nortriptyline

Tricyclic antidepressants increase or decrease the effect of sympathomimetics by blocking the uptake of indirect sympathomimetics into the adrenergic neuron

Citalopram + Nortriptyline

A combination of these drugs increases serotonin levels. Use alternative drugs because citalopram increases the risk of serotonin syndrome and OT prolongation. Closely monitor the patient's ECG

Atazanavir + Nortriptyline

Atazanavir increases the effect of nortriptyline by an unspecified interaction mechanism. Therapy should be administered with caution

Aluminum hydroxide + Gabapentin

Therapy should be administered with caution because the use of aluminum hydroxide decreases the effect of gabapentin by inhibiting GI absorption.

Clobazam + Gabapentin

The concomitant administration can increase CNS effects such as sedation and respiratory depression

Sevelamer + Gabapentin

Therapy should be administered with caution because the use of sevelamer decreases the effect of gabapentin by increasing its elimination.

Atracurium + Gabapentin

Gabapentin decreases the effect of atracurium by pharmacodynamic antagonism.

Drug-Food Interaction

The use of this drug with alcohol may cause serious side effects such as uncontrollable movements, agitation, seizures, severe dizziness, fainting, coma, and irregular heartbeat. Do not stop this medication without consulting with your doctor. Consuming alcohol is not recommended during this treatment

Drug-Disease Interaction

Anticholinergic effects + Nortriptyline

Tricyclic anti-depressants should be administered with caution in a patient with anticholinergic activity such as urinary retention, angle-closure glaucoma, untreated intraocular hypertension, and gastrointestinal obstructive disorders.

Cardiovascular diseases + Nortriptyline

During the initiation of the therapy tricyclic antidepressants may cause orthostatic hypotension, reflex tachycardia, syncope, and dizziness. Therapy should not be administered with caution in patients during the acute recovery phase following myocardial infarction, hyperthyroidism, or a history of cardiovascular disease. Closely monitor the patient's ECG levels.

Pheochromocytoma + Nortriptyline

Therapy should be administered with caution in a patient with tumors because tricyclic anti-depressants may potentiate the effect of circulating catecholamines

Depression + Nortriptyline

Therapy should be administered with caution in adult and pediatric patients with depression because they may have suicidal thoughts. The patient should be monitored closely for any changes in their behavior or suicidal thoughts. Do not discontinue the treatment without consulting with the doctor it may worsen the symptoms.

Bone marrow suppression + Nortriptyline

Therapy should be administered with caution in a patient with bone marrow suppression because the use of tricyclic anti-depressants may increase the risk of bone marrow suppression, leukopenia, agranulocytosis, thrombocytopenia, anemia, eosinophilia

Bipolar disorder + Nortriptyline

Therapy should be administered with caution in a patient with bipolar disorder because the use of tricyclic anti-depressants may precipitate the symptoms of psychosis in bipolar disorder patients

Renal/Liver disease + Nortriptyline

Therapy should be administered with caution in a patient with renal and hepatic function because there is limited information available regarding the use of tricyclic anti-depressants in a patient with renal and hepatic impairment.

Renal dysfunction + Gabapentin

Therapy should be administered with caution in patients with impaired renal function because gabapentin is eliminated unchanged by the kidney.

Drug dependence + Gabapentin

Therapy should be administered with caution because the use of gabapentin may cause dependence and abuse. Tolerance, as well as physical and psychological dependence, can develop. In patients who have developed, tolerance can cause respiratory depression and death.

Take the medicine as directed by the doctor don’t overdose on the medicine. If you have taken an overdose on this medicine immediately meet the doctor and rush to the nearby hospital.

Take the medicine as directed by the doctor. Do not skip the medicine, if you forgot to take the medicine or missed the dose. It is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Don’t take the extra dose take the regular dose immediately. Don’t use the two-dose at one time (Double Dose).
