Alidoxime 200mg Tablet contains Cefpodoxime Proxetil 200mg used to treat bacterial infections such as Urinary tract infection, Sinusitis, Tonsillitis/Pharyngitis, Bronchitis, Community-Acquired Pneumonia, Skin, and soft tissue infection, Infection of the eyes and ears, Cystitis, Gonorrhoea, and Pyelonephritis. Mainly this medicine targets the lungs, urinary tract, ear, nasal sinus, throat, and skin. Cefpodoxime Proxetil is an antibiotic that helps to fight against bacteria. This medicine is not used for common flu and cold symptoms that occur due to viral infections. This medicine is commonly prescribed for cough and colds caused by bacterial infections. Swallow the whole tablet at once. Don’t break, chew, or crush the tablet

It is used in the treatment of the following conditions as Bacterial infections such as Urinary tract infection, Sinusitis, Tonsillitis/Pharyngitis, Bronchitis, Community-Acquired Pneumonia, Skin, and soft tissue infection, Infection of the eyes and ears, Cystitis, Gonorrhoea, and Pyelonephritis.

Bacterial infections:

Bacterial infection occurs when bacteria enter your body and start multiplying which may cause tissue damage and make you sick. Mostly it is caused by Staphylococcus and Streptococcus organisms. The bacterial diseases are cholera, bacterial meningitis, tetanus, gonorrhea, pneumonia, and syphilis. Symptoms include fever, chills, and sweats, inflamed lymph nodes, headache, diarrhoea, abdominal pain

Acute sinusitis

It is also called acute rhinosinusitis.  It is an inflammation inside your nose which is called sinusitis. It is usually caused by the common cold, or by any viral or bacterial infection. Symptoms include runny nose, postnasal drainage, congestion, swelling around your eyes, ear pressure, headache, cough, bad breath, fatigue, and fever.

Urinary tract infection

It is a type of infection that affects the urethra, kidneys, and bladder. It is caused by Escherichia coli (E.coli). Symptoms include abdominal pain, frequent urination, dysuria, blood in urine, foul-smell while urinating

Skin infection

It is usually caused by bacteria, fungi, viruses, and parasites. Common skin infection includes cellulitis, impetigo. Symptoms include red skin, blisters, swelling, pain, red spots, and tenderness

Gonorrhea:

It is a sexually transmitted infection caused by bacteria called Neisseria gonorrhoeae. It affects both males and females. Symptoms include thick discharge from the penis, increased vaginal discharge, pain while urinating, anal itching, discharge, and spotting between menstrual bleeding.

Acute bronchitis

It is a viral infection that causes inflammation in the bronchial tubes. It is mostly caused by rhinovirus, adenovirus, influenza A and B, and parainfluenza virus. Symptoms include cough, fatigue, breathing difficulty, fever and chills, and chest discomfort.

Pneumonia

It is a lung infection that causes inflammation in the alveoli. It is usually caused by Streptococcus pneumonia. Symptoms include chest pain, fatigue, fever, sweating, nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, breathing difficulty, cough, and confusion.

Pyelonephritis

Infection to the kidney is caused due to a bacterial infection called Pyelonephritis. Cefpodoxime is used to treat this bacterial infection.

Alidoxime 200mg Tablet contain Cefpodoxime Proxetil is a third-generation cephalosporin antibiotic that produces its action by preventing bacterial cell wall synthesis which is essential for the growth of bacteria and also prevents the spreading of infections.

Do not take this medicine if you are allergic to Cefpodoxime Proxetil

• What if I forget to take the Alidoxime 200mg Tablet?

If you missed the dose take the medicine as soon as you remember. If it is time for a subsequent dose skip the missed dose and continue with a daily dose

• Can the use of a Alidoxime 200mg Tablet cause diarrhoea?

Yes, the use of this tablet can cause diarrhoea while killing the harmful bacteria it also affects the bacteria which is present in the intestine this lead to diarrhoea

The Tablet is taken orally with or without food. You should not chew, cut or crush the tablet. Initially start with a low dose and slowly increase the dose once every week. Follow the direction mentioned within the label if you probably did not understand the appliance kindly ask your doctor or pharmacist to elucidate in detail. Do not withdraw the medicine when you feel better kindly complete the course of treatment to avoid reoccurrence.

Alidoxime 200mg Tablet is not prescribed in children who are below 2 months old. Kindly consult with your doctor.

Alidoxime 200mg Tablet should be used with caution in patients with an elderly age group, which leads to developing further medical problems, leads to worsening the patient's health conditions. Kindly consult with your doctor. Dose modification or replacement is required based on the medical conditions of the patient.

• Long-term use may cause bacterial and fungal overgrowth
• Therapy should be administered with caution in patients with a history of penicillin allergy, beta-lactam allergy, and IgE mediated reactions like angioedema, anaphylaxis, and urticaria
• Kindly avoid the use of metabolite containing benzyl alcohol in neonates

Antibiotic resistance

Finish the complete course of antibiotics even if you feel better. Otherwise, it will lead to Antibiotic resistance (the bacteria may be resistant to antibiotics).

• You have a history of gastrointestinal disease
• You are not responding to the treatment
• You are having any concomitant diseases

Cefpodoxime is a third-generation cephalosporin antibiotic used in children for the treatment of bacterial infections such as Urinary tract infection, Sinusitis, Tonsillitis/Pharyngitis, Bronchitis, Community-Acquired Pneumonia, Skin, and soft tissue infection, Infection of the eyes and ears, Cystitis, Gonorrhoea, and Pyelonephritis. Also treated typhoid fever in children and adults.

Drug-Drug Interaction

BCG vaccine live + Cefpodoxime

The use of this drug is contraindicated because the use of Cefpodoxime decreases the effect of the BCG vaccine live by pharmacodynamic antagonism

Argatroban + Cefpodoxime

Use alternative drugs because the use of cefpodoxime will increase the effect of argatroban by anticoagulation

Aluminum hydroxide + Cefpodoxime

Therapy should be administered with caution because the use of aluminum hydroxide will decrease the effect of cefpodoxime by increasing its gastric pH.

Doxycycline + Cefpodoxime

Therapy should be administered with caution because the use of Doxycycline decreases the effect of Cefpodoxime by pharmacodynamic antagonism

Drug-Food Interaction

The food may increase the effect of cefpodoxime in your body so it is advised to take this tablet with food to increase the absorption

Drug-Disease Interaction

Renal dysfunction:

Therapy should be administered with caution because the serum concentration of the antibiotics and their metabolites may be increased and the half-lives of these drugs prolonged in patients with impaired renal function. You have to adjust the dose based on the severity of the infection.

Liver diseases:

Therapy should be administered with caution in patients with hepatic impairment because the use of this drug may cause hepatitis and it also increases the SGOT, SGPT, and alkaline phosphatase level

Seizure disorders:

Therapy should be administered with caution in patients who have a history of epilepsy because the use of this drug may stimulate seizure and it also cause encephalopathy, coma, asterixis, neuromuscular excitability, and myoclonia

Take the medicine as directed by the doctor don’t overdose on the medicine. If you have taken an overdose of this medicine immediately meet the doctor and rush to the nearby hospital.

Take the medicine as directed by the doctor. Do not skip the medicine, if you forgot to take the medicine or missed the dose. It is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Don’t take the extra dose take the regular dose immediately. Don’t use the two-dose at one time (Double Dose).
