Mechanism of action of Apixabid 2.5mg Tablet

Apixaban is a factor Xa inhibitor that produces its action by inhibiting the platelet activation and reversibly inhibiting the active site of factor Xa without a cofactor and it also inhibits the free and clot-bound factor Xa and the activity of prothrombinase and it indirectly inhibits the aggregation of platelet which is induced by thrombin. Blood coagulation depends upon the activation of factor X to factor Xa through the intrinsic and extrinsic pathways which play an important role in the blood coagulation cascade.
