Mechanism of action of Arthopan 250mg Tablet

Arthopan 250mg Tablet contains Pantoprazole 20mg and Naproxen 250mg is a two medicine combination. Pantoprazole acts on the final step of gastric acid secretion; it blocks the acid-releasing gastric parietal cells of the stomach. The Parietal cell of the stomach contains H+/K+ ATP Pumps, which help in acid secretion. Pantoprazole inhibits acid production by blocking these H+K+ ATP pumps. This action will last up to 24 hours. In between, more pumps will be produced by the stomach. This indicates the need to take the next dose to prevent acid production in the stomach.

Naproxen has analgesic, anti-inflammatory, and antipyretic properties. It acts by inhibiting Prostaglandin (PGs) synthesis and their release at the site of injury. Prostaglandins cause tenderness and increase the effectiveness of other analgesics. Naproxen inhibits cyclo-oxygenase enzyme and antagonizes prostaglandin actions.
