Medical Description of Axentri 150mg Tablet
Axentri contains its active substance called Maraviroc. Maraviroc is an antiretroviral medicine used in the treatment of Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV)-1 infection. Maraviroc is a CCR5 co-receptor antagonist. Maraviroc works by acting on the CCR5 receptor which is required for HIV active particles multiplication process thus reduces the viral load of HIV in your body. Maraviroc is used in combination with other antiretroviral HIV medications.

Axentri is used to treat adults, neonates and children who are infected by HIV. Maraviroc must be taken in combination with other anti-HIV medicines. Your doctor will discuss which combination of medicines is best for you.

Mechanism of action of Axentri 150mg Tablet
Axentri ( Maraviroc) is a Selective antagonist to the interaction between the human CCR5 receptor and HIV-1 gp120. It blocks this interaction prevents CCR5-tropic HIV-1 entry into cells. Thus, the active HIV molecule becomes inactive and further reproduction and multiplication process is stopped.

Drug-Drug Interaction
Thioridazine + Maraviroc
The use of this drug is contraindicated because the use of maraviroc will increase the effect of thioridazine by affecting the patient hepatic enzyme metabolism.
Lasmiditan + Maraviroc
Use alternative drugs because the use of lasmiditan increases the level of maraviroc by p-glycoprotein efflux transporter.
Acebutolol + Maraviroc
Therapy should be administered with caution because the combination of this drug either increases the effect of the other by pharmacodynamic synergism and it also increased the risk of orthostatic hypotension
Amiodarone + Maraviroc
Therapy should be administered with caution because the use of amiodarone will increase the effect of maraviroc by P-glycoprotein efflux transporter.
Aprepitant + Maraviroc

Liver impairment:
Therapy should be administered with caution in patients with hepatic impairment because the use of this drug may cause hepatotoxicity and cause a severe allergic reaction like fever, eosinophilia, increase immunoglobulin E. Before initiating the treatment monitor the patients liver enzymes level.
Renal impairment:
Therapy should be administered with caution in patients with severe renal impairment and end-stage renal disease because the use of this drug may increase the risk of developing postural hypotension. Adjust the dose if you have any symptoms of postural hypotension.
Cardiovascular diseases:
Therapy should be administered with caution in a patient with cardiovascular diseases because the use decrease the blood pressure and also increase the risk for developing cardiovascular adverse effects
Over Dose
Symptoms of overdose include dizziness, palpitations etc. Contact your doctor immediately.
Missed Dose
