Bortiad 2mg Injection

Bortiad 2mg Injection contains Bortezomib 2mg used to treat Mantle cell lymphoma, and Multiple myeloma. It works by inhibiting the growth and multiplication by increasing the number of proteins in the cancer cells. It is not recommended in pediatrics.

It is used in the treatment of the following conditions as Mantle cell lymphoma, and Multiple myeloma.  

Multiple myeloma

It is also called Kahler’s disease. It is a type of cancer that occurs in a plasma cell. In this condition, cancer gets accumulated in the bone marrow and affects healthy blood cells. Symptoms include constipation, loss of appetite, fatigue, bone pain, weight loss, frequent infections, excessive thirst, and numbness in your legs.

Mantle cell lymphoma

It is a type of non-Hodgkin's lymphoma cancer. It usually affects a part of your immune system called the lymphatic system. It occurs when there is a change in the DNA of white blood cells called B lymphocytes. Symptoms include night sweats, belly pain, enlarged tonsils, fatigue, pain in the lower back, fever, weight loss, and loss of appetite.  

The Bortiad injection is prescribed in the following indications as Mantle cell lymphoma, and Multiple myeloma.  

Bortiad 2mg Injection contains Bortezomib 2mg is an anti-cancer medication, Proteasome inhibitors. It produces its action by targeting the ubiquitin-proteasome pathway. This alters regulatory protein like NF-kB activation which is required for signaling and cell growth, survival, and metastasis of abnormal cells. Thus, inhibiting the action of proteasome results in the ceasing of the cell cycle that causes proliferation of abnormal cells and induces apoptosis.

Bortiad 2mg Injection contains Bortezomib 2mg is an anti-cancer medication, Proteasome inhibitors. It produces its action by inhibiting the breakdown of protein in cells which results in an increase in the number of proteins in the cancer cells and leads to cell death.

• I am experiencing nausea and fatigue. Is this due to Bortiad 2mg Injection?

Yes, the common side effect of this medicine is nausea and fatigue so it is better to eat more frequent meals to decrease nausea and also avoid foods that are salty, spicy, fatty. Drink plenty of rest and do light exercise to keep yourself active

• How to treat constipation during the treatment?

To treat constipation drink plenty of water a day and keep you active, add fiber to your diet. If you do not have a bowel movement for more than 3 days kindly consult with your doctor.

Alcohol

It is unsafe to consume alcohol while you are receiving this medicine, Kindly consult with your doctor.

Driving or operating machinery

It is considered unsafe to drive while you are receiving this medicine it may affect your ability to drive. Kindly consult with your doctor.

Pregnancy

Breast Feeding

• Therapy should be administered with caution in patients with hepatic impairment
• The use of this medicine associated with thrombocytopenia and neutropenia
• Nausea, diarrhea, constipation, and vomiting may occur while you are receiving this medicine so use antiemetic and antidiarrheal medication
• Kindly avoid pregnancy during this therapy because it may cause embryo-fetal harm
• Acute respiratory distress syndrome such as pneumonitis, interstitial pneumonia, and lung infiltration has occurred
• Posterior reversible encephalopathy syndrome and hypotension was reported

• You are not responding to the treatment
• You have experienced any allergic reaction like rashes and itching
• You have a receiving any concomitant medication and disease
• You develop shortness of breath

Drug-Drug Interaction

Eliglustat

It is contraindicated to use this medicine because the use of bortezomib increases the effect of eliglustat by affecting its hepatic and intestinal enzyme metabolism

Mefloquine

Use alternative drugs because the use of mefloquine increases the toxicity of bortezomib by QTc interval

Benazepril

Therapy should be administered with caution because the combination of this medicine either increases the effect of the other by pharmacodynamic synergism and it also increases the risk of developing hypotension

Clopidogrel

Therapy should be administered with caution because the use of bortezomib decreases the effect of clopidogrel by decreasing its metabolism

Dichlorphenamide

Therapy should be administered with caution because the combination of this medicine decreases the serum potassium

Drug-Food Interaction

Consuming green tea interferes with the antitumor effect of bortezomib. Kindly avoid green tea while you are receiving this medicine.

Drug-Disease Interaction

Cardiac toxicity

The use of this medicine may cause acute development of congestive heart failure and decrease left ventricular ejection fraction.

Diabetes

Therapy should be administered with caution because the use of this medicine may cause hypoglycemia and hyperglycemia

Hepatotoxicity

Therapy should be administered with caution in patients with hepatic impairment because the use of this medicine may cause acute liver failure, hepatitis and also increase liver enzymes and hyperbilirubinemia.

Pulmonary toxicity

Therapy should be administered with caution in patients with cardiopulmonary pathologies because it may cause acute respiratory distress syndrome and acute diffuse infiltrative pulmonary diseases.

Take the medicine as directed by the doctor don’t overdose on the medicine. If you have taken an overdose of this medicine immediately meet the doctor and rush to the nearby hospital.

Take the medicine as directed by the doctor. Do not skip the medicine, if you forgot to take the medicine or missed the dose. It is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Don’t take the extra dose take the regular dose immediately. Don’t use the two-dose at one time (Double Dose).
