Cantret 50mg Capsule contains Altretamine 50mg used as a palliative treatment of ovarian cancer in patients who have not improved after using other medicine. It works by inhibiting the growth and multiplication of cancer cells by damaging the DNA and RNA of cancer cells. It is not recommended in children.

It is used in the treatment of the following conditions ovarian cancer

Ovarian cancer

• The use of this medicine may increase the risk of orthostatic hypotension when used along with concomitant monoamine oxidase inhibitors

Drug-Drug Interaction

Influenza virus vaccine

Use alternative drugs because the use of altretamine decreases the effect of the influenza virus vaccine by pharmacodynamic antagonism.

Ofatumumab

Therapy should be administered with caution because the combination of this medicine either increases the effect of the other by immunosuppressive effects and it also increases the risk of infection

Myelosuppression

Therapy should not be administered in patients whose neutrophil count is less than 1,500/mm3. The use of this medicine may cause myelosuppression, bone marrow failure, and severe immunosuppression which leads to developing septic shock and sepsis

Neurologic dysfunction

It is contraindicated to use this medicine in patients with severe neurological impairment because it may cause peripheral neuropathy and central nervous system symptoms of vertigo, mood disorders, ataxia, and vertigo
