The Cefinip-CV Tablet contains Cefixime 200mg and Clavulanic acid 125mg used to treat conditions like urinary tract infection, Tonsillitis/pharyngitis, Bronchitis, Respiratory tract infection, Otitis media, Bone and joint infection, and Gonorrhoea. Cefixime is an antibiotic used to treat infections. Mainly bacterial infection targets the ear, eyes, nose, throat, lungs, skin, gastrointestinal tract, and urinary tract. Clavulanic acid is a beta-lactamase inhibitor that decreases resistance. The combination of this medicine helps to fight against the infection that is caused by bacteria. This medicine is not used for common flu and cold symptoms that occur due to viral infections. This medicine is commonly prescribed for cough and colds caused by bacterial infections.

It is used in the treatment of the following conditions as urinary tract infection, Tonsillitis/pharyngitis, Bronchitis, Respiratory tract infection, Otitis media, Bone and joint infection, and Gonorrhoea

Bacterial infections

Bacterial infection occurs when bacteria enter your body and start multiplying which may cause tissue damage and make you sick. Mostly it is caused by Staphylococcus and Streptococcus organisms. The bacterial diseases are cholera, bacterial meningitis, tetanus, gonorrhea, pneumonia, and syphilis. Symptoms include fever, chills, and sweats, inflamed lymph nodes, headache, diarrhea, abdominal pain

Urinary tract infection

It is a type of infection that affects the urethra, kidneys, and bladder. It is caused by Escherichia coli (E.coli). Symptoms include abdominal pain, frequent urination, dysuria, blood in urine, foul-smell while urinating

Gonorrhea:

It is a sexually transmitted infection caused by bacteria called Neisseria gonorrhoeae. It affects both males and females. Symptoms include thick discharge from the penis, increased vaginal discharge, pain while urinating, anal itching, discharge, and spotting between menstrual bleeding.

Acute bronchitis

It is a viral infection that causes inflammation in the bronchial tubes. It is mostly caused by rhinovirus, adenovirus, influenza A and B, and parainfluenza virus. Symptoms include cough, fatigue, breathing difficulty, fever and chills, and chest discomfort.

Bone and joint infection

Bone infection is also called Osteomyelitis. It is caused by bacteria called staphylococcus which travels through the bloodstream to the weak area in a bone. Symptoms include fever, pain, fatigue, tenderness, redness, and warmth.

Lower respiratory tract infections:

Infection in the lungs especially in the lower airways Common infections are Bronchiolitis and Pneumonia which are caused by Streptococcus pneumonia. Symptoms include runny nose, dry cough, sore throat, low-grade fever, and headache.

Tonsillitis/Pharyngitis

Usually, this medicine starts to work as soon as after taking it. But it may take some days to kill the microbes

The Cefinip-CV Tablet is taken orally with or without food. You should not chew, cut or crush the tablet. Initially start with a low dose and slowly increase the dose once every week. Follow the direction mentioned within the label if you probably did not understand the appliance kindly ask your doctor or pharmacist to elucidate in detail. Do not withdraw the medicine when you feel better kindly complete the course of treatment to avoid reoccurrence.

• Therapy should be administered with caution if you have a history of penicillin allergy and gastrointestinal disease
• Long-term use may cause bacterial or fungal overgrowth
• The use of this medicine may cause Immune-mediated hemolytic anemia, kindly discontinue the treatment if you have anemia
• The use of this medicine may cause renal failure like tubulointerstitial nephritis
• It produces limited effect against anaerobes

• You have a history of gastrointestinal disease
• You are not responding to the treatment

Drug-Drug Interaction

BCG vaccine live                            

The use of this drug is contraindicated because the use of medicine decreases the effect of the BCG vaccine live by pharmacodynamic antagonism

Cholera vaccine

Use alternative drugs, because the use of the cholera vaccine with antibiotics may activate the vaccine strain. So, avoid receiving this combination of medicines before 14 days of vaccination

Estradiol:

Therapy should be administered with caution because the use of cefixime will decrease the effect of estradiol by altering the intestinal flora and it also lowers the risk of contraceptive failure

Warfarin:

Therapy should be administered with caution because the combination of this drug may decrease the vitamin K producing intestinal flora and increase the INR level after a few days

Furosemide:

The use of cefixime increase the toxicity of furosemide by pharmacodynamic synergism and it also increases the risk of developing nephrotoxicity

Aspirin:

The use of cefixime will increase the effect of aspirin by acidic drug competition for renal tubular clearance.

Drug-Food Interaction

The food may increase the effect of the drug in your body so it is advised to take this tablet with food to increase the absorption

Drug-Disease Interaction

Colitis

This medicine kills the good helpful bacteria in your stomach or intestine and causes diarrhea. This drug should be used caution in patients with gastrointestinal disease, especially colitis (swelling of the colon inner lining). It leads to worsening the patient’s health condition.

Kidney disease

This medicine is filtered by the kidneys and passes through the urine. Then it leads to the risk of kidney damage. It should be used with caution in a patient with kidney disease. Inform your doctor and then take. Based on the patient's condition, dose adjustment is needed.

Seizures

Using this medicine is needs caution in patients with seizures or fits. Inform the doctor, then will do dose adjustment if necessary to take this medicine with seizure medications.

Lab interactions

This medicine gives a false positive test for Coombs test and Urine ketones test.

Take the medicine as directed by the doctor don’t overdose on the medicine. If you have taken an overdose of this medicine immediately meet the doctor and rush to the nearby hospital.

Take the medicine as directed by the doctor. Do not skip the medicine, if you forgot to take the medicine or missed the dose. It is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Don’t take the extra dose take the regular dose immediately. Don’t use the two-dose at one time (Double Dose).
