    Citbact tablet contains Ciprofloxacin is in a class of medication called Fluoroquinolones (Antibiotics) which are meant for oral use only. It is used in the treatment of bacterial infection includes acute sinusitis, bone and joint infection, chronic bacterial prostatitis, infectious diarrhea, lower-respiratory tract infection, Nosocomial Pneumonia, Intra-abdominal infection, Skin infection, urinary tract infection, Cervical gonococcal infection, Anthrax infection by killing the bacteria enzyme which is responsible for the infection.

    Bacterial infection occurs when bacteria enter your body and start multiplying which may cause tissue damage and make you sick. Mostly it is caused by Staphylococcus and Streptococcus organisms. The bacterial diseases are cholera, bacterial meningitis, tetanus, gonorrhea, pneumonia, and syphilis. Symptoms include fever, chills, and sweats, inflamed lymph nodes, headache, diarrhea, abdominal pain

    Acute sinusitis

    It is also called acute rhinosinusitis.  It is an inflammation inside your nose which is called sinusitis. It is usually caused by the common cold, or by any viral or bacterial infection.     How to Take Citbact 250mg Tablet

    Drug Interaction of Citbact 250mg Tablet

    Drug-Drug Interaction

    BCG vaccine live + Ciprofloxacin 

    The use of this drug is contraindicated because the use of Ciprofloxacin decreases the effect of the BCG vaccine live by pharmacodynamic antagonism

    Flibanserin + Ciprofloxacin 

    The use of this drug is contraindicated because the use of Ciprofloxacin will increase the effect of flibanserin by affecting the patient hepatic and intestinal enzyme metabolism

    Aluminum hydroxide + Ciprofloxacin 

    Use alternative drugs because the use of aluminum hydroxide decreases the level of Ciprofloxacin by inhibiting GI absorption.

    Atracurium + Ciprofloxacin

    Use alternative drugs because the use of Ciprofloxacin may increase the effect of atracurium by pharmacodynamic synergism which increases the risk of respiratory depression

    Rasagiline + Ciprofloxacin 

    Use alternative drugs because the use of Ciprofloxacin will increase the effect of rasagiline by affecting the patient hepatic and intestinal enzyme metabolism

    Drug-Food Interaction

    The combination of Ciprofloxacin and caffeine may increase the effect of caffeine so kindly avoid this combination. Kindly consult with the doctor if you have experienced adverse effects like headache, tremor, restlessness, insomnia, and increased heart rate.

    Drug-Disease Interaction

    Gastrointestinal disease

    Therapy should be administered with caution in patients with gastrointestinal diseases like colitis. If you experienced any adverse effects like severe diarrhea, abdominal pain, blood in stools immediately consult with the doctor.

    Renal dysfunction:

    Therapy should be administered with caution in patients with renal impairment because they have a higher risk of developing nephrotoxicity. Kindly adjust the dose based on the severity of the diseases

    Diabetes:

    Therapy should be administered with caution because the use of quinolones interferes in blood glucose's effect on pancreatic beta cells ATP-potassium channels which regulate the secretion of insulin. The use of quinolones may cause hypoglycemia so monitor the patient blood glucose level regularly.

    Tendonitis:

    Therapy should be avoided in patients who are having a history of tendon disorders because the use of quinolones itself may cause a rupture in the tendon.

    QT interval prolongation:

    Therapy should be administered with caution because the use of quinolones may prolong the QT interval of electrocardiogram and may increase the risk of ventricular tachycardia, ventricular fibrillation.


    Over Dose
