Cycloxan injection contains Cyclophosphamide used to treat several malignant diseases, nephrotic syndrome, non-Hodgkins leukemia, breast cancer, and Systemic Lupus Erythematosus in adults and children. It helps to inhibit the growth and multiplication of cancer cells.

It is used in the treatment of the following conditions as several malignant diseases, nephrotic syndrome, non-Hodgkins leukemia, breast cancer, and Systemic Lupus Erythematosus

Malignant diseases

It is called cancer. Is a large number of diseases that are characterized by the development of abnormal cells that separate uncontrollably and destroy the normal tissue. It is a type of cancer that forms in the breast cells. It is common among women. Symptoms include breast lump, change in breast size, redness, pitting of the skin, color change, and peeling surrounding the breast skin or nipple. This medicine helps to inhibit the multiplication of cancer cells.

Systemic lupus erythematosus

It is an autoimmune disease that affects joints, skin, kidneys, blood cells, the brain, heart, and lungs. It usually occurs when your body's immune system attacks healthy tissue in your body. Symptoms include joint pain, swelling, shortness of breath, chest pain, dry eyes, confusion, headaches, skin lesions, butterfly-shaped rash, and fatigue.

Non-Hodgkins leukemia

It is also known as Non-Hodgkin’s disease, cancer in part of your immune system called the lymphatic system. It occurs when there is a change in the DNA of white blood cells called B lymphocytes. Symptoms include fever, night sweats, weight loss, severe itching, increased sensitivity, and swelling of lymph nodes.

The Cycloxan injection is prescribed in the following indications as several malignant diseases, nephrotic syndrome, non-Hodgkins leukemia, breast cancer, juvenile idiopathic arthritis, lupus nephritis, systemic sclerosis, and Systemic Lupus Erythematosus in adults and children.

Cycloxan injection contains cyclophosphamide is an anti-cancer medication and Alkylating agent. It produces its action by causing intra- and inter-strand crosslinks between DNA bases causing a break in DNA strand thus apoptosis is induced which results in cell death of abnormal DNA containing cancer cells.

• Do not take this medicine if you are allergic to Cyclophosphamide

• You develop shortness of breath

Drug-Drug Interaction

Tofacitinib

Use alternative drug because the combination of this medicine either increases the toxicity of the other by immunosuppressive effect and it also increases the risk for developing infections

Allopurinol

Therapy should be administered with caution because the use of allopurinol increases the toxicity of cyclophosphamide by decreasing its metabolism.

Busulfan

Therapy should be administered with caution because the combination of this medicine either increases the toxicity of the other by pharmacodynamic synergism.

Digoxin

Therapy should be administered with caution because the use of cyclophosphamide decreases the effect of digoxin by inhibiting GI absorption.

Warfarin

Therapy should be administered with caution because the use of cyclophosphamide increases the effect of warfarin by an unknown mechanism.

Myelosuppression

Cyclophosphamide should not be administered in patients whose neutrophil count is less than 1,500/mm3. The use of this medicine may cause myelosuppression, bone marrow failure, and severe immunosuppression which leads to developing septic shock and sepsis

Urinary tract obstruction
Therapy should be administered with caution in patients with cystitis because the use of cyclophosphamide itself may produce hemorrhagic cystitis, pyelitis, and hematuria.

Cardiotoxicity

Therapy should be administered with caution because the use of cyclophosphamide will cause cardiotoxicity includes myocarditis, myopericarditis, pericardial effusion, and congestive heart failure.

Liver diseases

Therapy should be administered with caution because the use of cyclophosphamide alters the metabolic and therapeutic activity in patients with hepatic impairment.
