Lamivudine is phosphorylated to its active forms lamivudine triphosphate that is incorporated into the nucleotide and inhibits the action of HIV-1 reverse transcriptase. Nevirapine is a non-nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitor that binds to reverse transcriptase of HIV-1 particle thus blocks RNA and DNA dependant DNA polymerase actions that is required for replication of HIV-1.
