Cytocristin 1mg Injection contains Vincristine 1mg used to treat Hodgkin’s and non-Hodgkin;s malignant lymphomas, rhabdomyosarcoma, neuroblastoma, and Wilm's tumor in adult and acute leukemia in children. It works by inhibiting the multiplication of cancer cells.

It is used in the treatment of the following conditions as Hodgkin’s and non-Hodgkin;s malignant lymphomas, rhabdomyosarcoma, neuroblastoma and Wilm's tumor, and acute leukemia

 

Hodgkin’s lymphoma

It is also known as Hodgkin’s disease, cancer in part of your immune system called the lymphatic system. It occurs when there is a change in the DNA of white blood cells called B lymphocytes. Symptoms include fever, night sweats, weight loss, severe itching, increased sensitivity, and swelling of lymph nodes.

Non-Hodgkins leukemia

It is also known as Non-Hodgkin’s disease, cancer in part of your immune system called the lymphatic system. It occurs when there is a change in the DNA of white blood cells called B lymphocytes. Symptoms include fever, night sweats, weight loss, severe itching, increased sensitivity, and swelling of lymph nodes.

Rhabdomyosarcoma

It is a rare type of cancer that forms in soft tissue. It usually occurs in the head and neck area, urinary bladder, vagina, uterus, and testes. Symptoms include headache, inflamed eyes, nose bleeding, difficulties in urinating, bowel movements, and vagina bleeding

Neuroblastoma

It is adrenal gland cancer that develops from an immature nerve cell which is found in several areas of the body. Symptoms include abdominal pain, changes in bowel movement, wheezing, chest pain, back pain, fever, unexplained weight loss, and bone pain.

Wilm’s tumor

It is the most common type of kidney cancer in children. It is also known as nephroblastoma. It affects the children whose ages 3-4. Symptoms include abdominal pain, swelling, constipation, loss of appetite, shortness of breath, high blood pressure, and blood in the urine.

Acute lymphoblastic leukemia

It is a cancer of blood and bone marrow that affects white blood cells. It usually occurs when a cell in bone marrow develops changes in its DNA. Symptoms include fever, joint pain, severe nosebleeds, pale skin, shortness of breath, fatigue, and bleeding from the gums.

It produces its action by acting on M and S phases by inhibiting the formation of microtubule which interferes in the mitotic spindle formation which in turn leads to the inhibition of the DNA and RNA synthesis and cause cell death.

Yes, the common side effect of this medicine is nausea and fatigue so it is better to eat more frequent meals to decrease nausea and also avoid foods that are salty, spicy, fatty. Drink plenty of rest and do light exercise to keep yourself active

Drug-Drug Interaction

Chloramphenicol

Use alternative drugs because the use of chloramphenicol will increase the effect of Vincristine by affecting its hepatic and intestinal enzyme metabolism.

Phenytoin

Therapy should be administered with caution because the use of Vincristine decreases the effect of phenytoin by increasing its metabolism.

Digoxin

Therapy should be administered with caution because the use of Vincristine decreases the effect of digoxin by inhibiting the GI absorption

Ethotoin

Therapy should be administered with caution because the use of Vincristine decreases the effect of ethotoin by inhibiting GI absorption.

Infections

The use of this medicine is contraindicated in patients who are having the infectious disease because of their cytotoxic effect their induce myelosuppression.

Myelosuppression

Therapy should be administered with caution in patients with bone marrow suppression because the use of this medicine induces dose-related myelosuppression, leukopenia, thrombocytopenia, and anemia

Pulmonary dysfunction

Therapy should be administered with caution in patients with pulmonary dysfunction because it may cause an acute shortness of breath and bronchospasm.

Hepatic dysfunction

Therapy should be administered with caution in patients with hepatic dysfunction because it may increase the risk for toxicity associated with Vincristine therapy.
