Cytotam 10mg Tablet contains Tamoxifen 10mg used to treat breast cancer in both men and women and it also helps to reduce the risk for developing breast cancer in pre and postmenopausal women. It works by maintaining the estrogen level and it also helps to decrease the growth of cancer cells. It is also used to treat anovulatory infertility.

 

It is used in the treatment of the following conditions as breast cancer

It is a type of cancer that forms in the breast cells. It is common among women. Symptoms include breast lump, change in breast size, redness, pitting of the skin, color change, and peeling surrounding the breast skin or nipple. This medicine helps to inhibit the multiplication of cancer cells.

• Breast cancer which is metastatic in both men and women
• Ductal carcinoma in situ after surgery and radiation
• Ovarian cancer
• Anovulatory infertility
• Primary prevention of breast cancer

Cytotam 10mg Tablet contains Tamoxifen 10mg is an anti-cancer medication, Estrogen Receptor Antagonist. It produces its action by inhibiting estrogen binding with estrogen receptors, this leads to a decrease in tumor growth factor-alpha and insulin-like growth factor 1 and it also causes an increase in sex hormone-binding globulin that decreases free estradiol level which is present in the blood. Tamoxifen 10mg induces apoptosis (cell death) in estrogen receptor-positive cells and shrinks the abnormal cells and minimizes metastasis thus treating and controlling cancers or tumors.

Cytotam 10mg Tablet contains Tamoxifen 10mg is an anti-cancer medication, Estrogen Receptor Antagonist. It produces its action by inhibiting estrogen binding with estrogen receptors, thus inhibiting the signaling process for angiogenesis and proliferation of abnormal cells and minimizing the growth of abnormal cancer cells, and terminating metastasis of cancers.

• Do not take this medicine if you are allergic to Tamoxifen
• It is contraindicated to use this medicine in patients who are pregnant and have undiagnosed vaginal bleeding
• It is contraindicated to use this medicine along with warfarin or have a history of deep vein thrombosis and pulmonary embolus.

Avoid planning for pregnancy while you are receiving this medicine and also use an effective contraceptive for at least 1 month after taking the last medicine.

If you have experienced muscle cramping, muscle weakness, confusion, vision loss, blindness, seizures, headaches, shortness of breath, swelling of your feet, high blood pressure, tiredness, fainting, tightness in the chest.

• Hypercalcemia was reported in breast cancer patients with bone metastases
• Increased incidence of cataracts, uterine malignancies, and thromboembolic events was reported while receiving this therapy
• Ocular disturbances including retinal vein thrombosis, retinopathy, ocular disturbances, and decrement in color vision perception were reported.
• The use of this medicine may cause hypercholesterolemia and hypertriglyceridemia were reported
• Therapy should be administered with caution in pregnant women due to the fetal harm

• You are not responding to the treatment
• You have experienced any allergic reaction like rashes and itching
• You have a receiving any concomitant medication and disease

Drug-Drug Interaction

Idelalisib

It is contraindicated to use this medicine because the use of idelalisib decreases the effect of tamoxifen by affecting its hepatic and intestinal enzymes

Bosutinib

Use alternative drug because the use of tamoxifen increases the level of bosutinib by P-glycoprotein efflux transporter

Mefloquine

Use alternative drugs because the use of mefloquine increases the toxicity of tamoxifen by QTc interval

Cannabidiol

Therapy should be administered with caution because the use of cannabidiol increases the effect of tamoxifen by decreasing its metabolism

Drug-Food Interaction

Do not take tamoxifen along with soy products because soy stimulates the growth of tumor cells in the breast and also interferes with the action of tamoxifen.

Drug-Disease Interaction

Pulmonary embolism

It is contraindicated to use this medicine in women who are with a history of deep vein thrombosis because the use of tamoxifen increases the incidence of thromboembolic events including deep vein thrombosis,

Endometrial dysplasia

Therapy should be administered with caution in patients with a history of gynecological abnormalities because the use of tamoxifen changes the endometrium such as hyperplasia, polyps, and endometrial cancer.

Hepatic dysfunction

Therapy should be administered with caution in patients with a history of hepatic function because the use of tamoxifen alter the liver enzymes and cause severe hepatic injuries such as fatty liver, cholestasis, hepatitis, and hepatic necrosis.
