    Medical Description of Dacotin 100mg Infusion

    Dacotin 100mg Infusion contains Oxaliplatin 100mg it’s an antineoplastic and alkylating agent. It is a platinum analogue. This medication is used in the treatment of colorectal carcinoma. It is used as an orphan drug in treating chronic lymphocytic leukaemia, esophageal cancer, neoplasm of the stomach, neuroendocrine tumor, non-Hodgkin lymphoma, testicular cancer, ovarian cancer, pancreatic adenocarcinoma and cholangiocarcinoma. It is always used in combination with 5-fluorouracil

    Dacotin 100mg Infusion is used in the treatment of colorectal cancer at stage 3. It is not used in children. It is also used as an orphan drug in several cancers and leukemia. It is used only in adults.

    Mechanism of action of Dacotin 100mg Infusion

    Oxaliplatin is an alkylating medication. It causes intra- and inter-strand crosslinks between DNA bases causing breaks in DNA strands thus apoptosis is induced resulting in cell death of abnormal DNA containing cancer cells.

    Dacotin 100mg Infusion causes DNA base pairs to break inducing apoptosis of these abnormal cancer cells.

    How to Take Dacotin 100mg Infusion

    Dacotin 100mg Infusion is used only in the presence of physician; Do not shake medicine containing vial while diluting or infusing; It is compatible with D5W; Do not use NS or chloride containing solutions; It is infused into 250-500ml of D5W and administered as slow infusion; Refrigerate unopened or opened 8°C

    After therapy has been initiated, do not take more or less of this drug than prescribed or stop taking it without your physicians’ approval. Skipping or changing your dose without approval may cause adverse effects making the condition more difficult to treat, or worsen side effects.


    Use of Dacotin 100mg Infusion in Adult

    If you are pregnant or breastfeeding inform your physician as they are not advisable.

    This Infusion is not recommended in children.


    Use of Dacotin 100mg Infusion in Elderly Patients

    General instructions

    Dacotin 100mg Infusion is given intravenously in the presence of a physician. It must be kept at 8°C. Do not store after a single-use.
