Cefadroxil is an antibiotic used to treat bacterial infections. Mainly bacterial infections target the ear, eyes, nose, throat, lungs, skin, gastrointestinal tract, and urinary tract. Probenecid is a uricosuric that helps to increase the effect of Cefadroxil. The combination of this medicine helps to fight against the infection that is caused by bacteria. This medicine is not used for common flu and cold symptoms that occur due to viral infections. This medicine is commonly prescribed for cough and colds caused by bacterial infections.

It is used in the treatment of the following conditions as Urinary tract infection, Tonsillitis/Pharyngitis, Skin, and soft tissue infections, and Impetigo.

Drug-Drug Interaction

BCG vaccine live

The use of this drug is contraindicated because the use of medicine decreases the effect of the BCG vaccine live by pharmacodynamic antagonism

Cholera vaccine

Use alternative drugs, because the use of the cholera vaccine with antibiotics may activate the vaccine strain. So, avoid receiving this combination of medicines before 14 days of vaccination

Estradiol:

Therapy should be administered with caution because the use of cefadroxil will decrease the effect of estradiol by altering the intestinal flora and it also lowers the risk of contraceptive failure

Furosemide:

The use of cefadroxil increase the toxicity of furosemide by pharmacodynamic synergism and it also increases the risk of developing nephrotoxicity

Aspirin:

The use of cefadroxil will increase the effect of aspirin by acidic drug competition for renal tubular clearance.

Ketorolac

The use of this medicine is contraindicated because the use of probenecid may increase the effect of ketorolac by decreasing its renal clearance

Cephalexin

Therapy should be administered with caution because the use of cephalexin may increase the effect of probenecid by acidic drug competition for renal tubular clearance.
