    Egybort 2mg Injection contains Bortezomib 2mg it is an antineoplastic agent and proteasome inhibitor. This medication is not recommended in paediatric. Egybort 2mg Injection is used in the treatment of mantle cell lymphoma and multiple myeloma.

    Egybort 2mg Injection is used in the treatment of bone marrow cancer and cancer that affects the immune system. It is not used in children.

    Mechanism of action of Egybort 2mg Injection

    Bortezomib is an antineoplastic and an antiangiogenic agent. Bortezomib is a proteasome inhibitor that targets the ubiquitin-proteasome pathway.  Bortezomib assisted proteasome inhibits alters regulatory protein like NF-kB activation which is required for signalling required for cell growth, survival, and metastasis of abnormal cells. Thus, inhibiting the action of proteasome results in the ceasing of the cell cycle that causes the proliferation of abnormal cells and induces apoptosis.


    How Egybort 2mg Injection works

    Bortezomib is an antineoplastic agent that inhibits the function of regulatory proteins like NF-kB present in the ubiquitin-proteasome pathway. Thus, the proliferation of abnormal cells is inhibited and apoptosis is induced which results in the slow progression of tumor and controls multiple myeloma and mantle cell lymphoma.

    Absolute contraindication:

    • if you are allergic to Egybort 2mg (Bortezomib 2mg) Injection or its constituents
    • if you are pregnant
    • if you are breastfeeding
    • if you are less than 18 years of age

    How to Take Egybort 2mg Injection

    This injection is used only in the presence of a physician.

    This injection can be given intravenously or as a subcutaneous injection into the thigh or abdomen

    This injection should not be given intrathecally.

    This injection must be taken on schedule as prescribed by your physician.

    After therapy has been initiated, do not take more or less of Egybort drug than prescribed or stop taking it without your physicians’ approval. Skipping or changing Egybort dose without approval may cause adverse effects making the condition more difficult to treat, or worsen side effects.

    • Allergic reactions - It can be mild hypersensitivity and angioedema to severe like Stevens-Johnson Syndrome and toxic epidermal necrolysis.

    General instructions

    Egybort 2mg Injection is can be given intravenously with 0.9% NaCl. Do not shake the vial before use. Add 3.5ml for 1mg/ml concentration and give them as IV infusion. Add 1.4ml for 2mg/ml concentration and give them as SC injection. Store the vials at room temperature.

    Serum concentration is increased by Arsenic trioxide, Erythromycin

    Serum concentration is decreased by Dexamethasone, Levothyroxine, Mifepristone, St. John's Wort

    Severity of adverse effects is increased by Allopurinol, Fludrocortisone, Interferon alfa, Methotrexate

    Drug-Food Interaction

    Avoid taking grapes, grape juice and flavonoids like green vegetables, fruits, and green tea while taking this injection. Also, avoid vitamin C. This injection can be taken with any type of food, if doubts arise kindly refer to your physician. It generally causes side effects thus it is advised not to be taken with alcohol. It is preferred to drive or operate heavy machinery with caution.

    Drug-Drug Interaction

    Eliglustat

    It is contraindicated to use this medicine because the use of bortezomib increases the effect of eliglustat by affecting its hepatic and intestinal enzyme metabolism

    Mefloquine

    Use alternative drugs because the use of mefloquine increases the toxicity of bortezomib by QTc interval

    Benazepril

    Therapy should be administered with caution because the combination of this medicine either increases the effect of the other by pharmacodynamic synergism and it also increases the risk of developing hypotension

    Clopidogrel

    Therapy should be administered with caution because the use of bortezomib decreases the effect of clopidogrel by decreasing its metabolism

    Dichlorphenamide

    Therapy should be administered with caution because the combination of this medicine decreases the serum potassium
