    Entaliv 0.5mg Tablet contains its active substance called Entecavir. Entecavir is an antiviral medicine used in the treatment of chronic hepatitis B infection. It is a guanine nucleoside analogue. It is used in compensated and decompensated liver diseases.


    Entaliv 0.5mg Tablet Uses

    Entaliv 0.5mg Tablet is used to treat adults and children above 2 years of age who are infected by Hepatitis B virus. Entaliv 0.5mg Tablet should not be taken separately if you are HIV positive. Entaliv 0.5mg Tablet can be taken with other anti-HIV medications. Entaliv 0.5mg Tablet can be used in cases with compensated and decompensated liver diseases.

    Entaliv 0.5mg Tablet is used to treat chronic hepatitis B infection who have compensated and decompensated liver disease. Entaliv 0.5mg Tablet is guanine nucleoside analogue. Entaliv 0.5mg Tablet is not a cure for HIV infection, it is used to treat chronic HBV. It competes with deoxyguanosine triphosphate and entecavir triphosphate inhibits all functions of HBV polymerase which is required for replication of virus. Thus, treats HBV infection.

    Entaliv 0.5mg Tablet is HIV-1 guanosine nucleoside analogue. Entaliv 0.5mg Tablet inhibits the action of HBV polymerase by incorporating themselves into the nucleotide sequence thus inhibits the action of HBV polymerase, thereby preventing the formation of mature virus particles. Thus, controls and treats HBV infection.

    How to Take Entaliv 0.5mg Tablet

    • Entaliv 0.5mg Tablet is taken orally without food for best result.
    • Entaliv 0.5mg Tablet must be taken at the same time once a day as prescribed by your physician.
    • Entaliv 0.5mg Tablet is always taken with other antiretrovirals for treating HIV infection.
    • After therapy has been initiated, do not take more or less of this drug than prescribed or stop taking it without your physicians’ approval. Skipping or changing your dose without approval may cause the amount of the virus to increase making the infection more difficult to treat, or worsen side effects.


    Use of Entaliv 0.5mg Tablet in Adult

    • If you are pregnant or breastfeeding inform your physician as they are not advisable.
    • The recommended dosage of Entaliv 0.5mg Tablet in compensated liver disease is 0.5mg/d in naïve cases
    • The recommended dosage of Entaliv 0.5mg Tablet in compensated liver disease is 1mg/d in pre-exposed cases
    • The recommended dosage of Entaliv 0.5mg Tablet in decompensated liver disease is 1mg/d
    • Entaliv can be taken with other antiretrovirals as prescribed by the physician without fail. These drugs must be taken with or without food on a regular time basis.


    Use of Entaliv 0.5mg Tablet in children

    Entaliv 0.5mg Tablet is used in children above 2 years of age or 10 Kgs of weight in naïve cases

                    Upto 30 kgs – 0.5mg/d

                    >30 kgs – 1mg/d

    Entaliv 0.5mg Tablet used in children above 2 years of age or 10 Kgs of weight in pre-exposed cases, the dosage is doubled.

    Entaliv 0.5mg Tablet can be taken with other antiretrovirals as prescribed by the physician without fail. These drugs must be taken with or without food on a regular time basis.


    Use of Entaliv 0.5mg Tablet in Elderly Patients

    Entaliv 0.5mg Tablet has only been used in few patients 65 years or older. Dosage and usage are similar to adults. Discuss with your physician before usage.

    Over Dose

    Missed Dose

    • If you take once a day dosage, then the missed dosage if you notice within 12 hours. If it is more than 12 hours, then skip the dosage and take the next doses as usual.
    • If you take twice a day dosage, then the missed dosage if you notice within 6 hours. If it is more than 6 hours, then skip the dosage and take the next doses as usual.
