Etosid 50mg Capsule contains EtoEtoside 50mg used to treat small cell lung cancer and testicular cancer. It works by inhibiting the growth and multiplication of cancer cells. It is used alone or with other combinations of chemotherapy. It is also used to treat some of the cancer in both men and women.

It is used in the treatment of the following conditions as small cell lung cancer and testicular cancer

 

Small cell lung cancer

It is fast-growing cancer that occurs in the tissue of the lung and spreads to other parts of the body. The cause for this cancer is tobacco smoking. Symptoms include bloody mucus, shortness of breath, chest pain, loss of appetite, fatigue, weight loss, and facial swelling.

Testicular cancer

It is also called a malignant neoplasm of the testis. Cancer usually occurs in the testicles when compared with another type of cancer it is rare. Symptoms include testicle enlargement, abdomen and groin pain, enlargement of breast and back pain

The Etosid 50mg Capsule is prescribed in the following indications as

• Testicular cancer
• Small cell lung cancer

Etosid 50mg Capsule is used as an orphan drug in the treatment of acute lymphoblastic leukemia, acute myeloid leukemia, Hodgkin’s and non-Hodgkin’s  leukemia, Ewing’s sarcoma, gestational trophoblastic disease, Merkel cell cancer, multiple myeloma, neuroblastoma, neuroendocrine tumor, non-small cell lung cancer, ovarian and prostate cancer, retinoblastoma, sarcoma, Wilm’s tumor, metastatic thymic tumor

Etosid 50mg Capsule contains EtoEtoside 50mg is an anti-cancer medication, Podophyllotoxin derivatives produce its action by inhibiting DNA topoisomerase 2 enzyme thus stopping the ligation process in DNA synthesis at the pre-mitotic stage of stem cell cycle and inhibits DNA replication process at G2 phase and inducing apoptosis of damaged DNA containing abnormal cancer cells. This shrinks the abnormal cells and minimizes metastasis thus treating and controlling cancers.

Etosid 50mg Capsule contains EtoEtoside 50mg is an anti-cancer medication, Podophyllotoxin derivatives produce its action by inhibiting the DNA replication process by inhibiting the action of DNA topoisomerase 2 enzymes on DNA ligation. This results in the formation of broken or impaired DNA sequences containing abnormal cancer cells thus proliferation process is inhibited and metastasis is controlled by inducing apoptosis of abnormal cancer cells.

• It is contraindicated to use this medicine in a patient who is having an active infection

• When should I call my doctor during treatment with an Etosid 50mg Capsule?

Kindly inform your doctor if you have experienced sudden difficulty in breathing, cough, fever, diarrhea, loss of appetite, nausea, and vomiting. Also, inform your doctor if you have to take any medication to control cholesterol.

• When can I plan a pregnancy if I am taking an Etosid 50mg Capsule?

Avoid planning for pregnancy while you are receiving this medicine and also use an effective contraceptive for at least 1 month after taking the last medicine.

• Oligospermia, azoospermia, and permanent loss of fertility were reported in males while you are taking this medicine
• It may also cause infertility in the female which results in amenorrhea
• The patients who are having low serum albumin may increase the risk for developing etoEtoside associated toxicities
• Severe myelosuppression may occur

• You are not responding to the treatment
• You have experienced any allergic reaction like rashes and itching
• You have a receiving any concomitant medication and disease

Drug-Drug Interaction

Apalutamide

Use alternative drugs because the use of apalutamide will decrease the effect of etoEtoside by affecting its hepatic ad intestinal enzyme metabolism.

Erdafitinib

Use alternative drugs because the use of erdafitinib will increase the effect of etoEtoside by P-glycoprotein efflux transporter.

Dichlorphenamide

Therapy should be administered with caution because the combination of this medicine either increases the toxicity of the other by pharmacodynamic synergism and also cause metabolic acidosis

Olaparib

Therapy should be administered with caution because the combination of this medicine increases the myelosuppressive toxicity

Infections

The use of this medicine is contraindicated in patients who are having the infectious disease because of their cytotoxic effect their induce myelosuppression.

Myelosuppression

Therapy should not be administered in patients whose neutrophil count is less than 1,500/mm3. The use of this medicine may cause myelosuppression, bone marrow failure, and severe immunosuppression which leads to developing septic shock and sepsis

Renal dysfunction

Therapy should be administered with caution in patients who are having renal impairment because the use of etoEtoside reduces the clearance, increase the area under the curve and decrease the volume of distribution.
