Fenograf 750mg tablet contains Mycophenolate mofetil 750mg an immunosuppressant used with other medicine to prevent your body from organ rejection in patients who have undergone kidney transplants. It produces its action by reducing the activity of our immune system so that it will not attack the transplanted organs.

Fenograf 750mg tablet is used to prevent organ rejection in kidney transplant patients.

Organ rejection:

It occurs when the immune system attacks the organ donated and started to destroy the transplanted organs. It is caused by antibodies that act against the organ and it begins within minutes to hours as soon as organ transplantation.

 

Fenograf 750mg tablet is prescribed for the following indications to prevent organ rejection in kidney transplant patients.

• Do not take this medicine if you are allergic to Mycophenolate mofetil
• It is contraindicated to use this medicine in patients who are taking this medication in an IV formulation allergic to polysorbate 80

• How long does Fenograf 750mg tablet take to start working?

Usually, it takes 3-12 weeks to start working and it depends upon the severity of the patient. Do not withdraw the drug without consulting with your doctor

• What happens if I forget to take the Fenograf 750mg tablet?

If you missed the dose take it as soon as you remember do not take the tablet between the meals. If it is time for the next dose skip the missed dose and continue with a regular dose

• Can Fenograf 750mg tablets cause cancer?

Yes, the use of this tablet may increase the chance of developing skin cancer, lymphoma and sarcomas, and cervical cancer. Kindly consult with your doctor if you have noticed any changes in your body.

• It is not indicated for hepatic or cardiac transplants
• Therapy should be administered with caution because toxicity may increase in renal impairment

• You have watery diarrhea, stomach pain, and fever

Drug-Drug Interaction

Anthrax vaccine + Mycophenolate

Mycophenolate increases the effect of the anthrax vaccine by pharmacodynamic antagonism. Immunosuppressants increase the risk of infection in combination with live vaccines

Rabies vaccine + Mycophenolate

Mycophenolate decreases the effect of the rabies vaccine by pharmacodynamic antagonism. Immunosuppressants interfere in the development of immunity.

Allopurinol + Mycophenolate

The use of this drug is contraindicated because the use of allopurinol increases the effect of mycophenolate by decreasing its metabolism. A combination of these drugs may increase the risk of bone marrow toxicity.

Anakinra + Mycophenolate

Use alternative drug because the combination of these drugs increases the effect of immunosuppressant and increase the risk of infections.

Infliximab + Mycophenolate

Use alternative drug because the combination of these drugs increases the effect of immunosuppressant and increase the risk of infections.

Altretamine + Mycophenolate

Altretamine increases the effect of mycophenolate through immunosuppressive effects. Use with Therapy should be administered with caution because the combination of this drug  may increase the risk of serious infections

Drug-Food Interaction

The use of grapefruit can increase the effect of immunosuppressants and increase the side effect on the kidney, liver, and nervous systems. Consult with your doctor if you have the following symptoms such as fever, rash, nausea, vomiting, dark urine, and jaundice.

Hypertension

The use of immunosuppressants is contraindicated in patients who are having rheumatoid arthritis and psoriasis with uncontrolled hypertension.

Renal dysfunction:

The use of immunosuppressants is contraindicated in patients who are having rheumatoid arthritis and psoriasis with renal impairment. Immunosuppressant causes a reversible reduction in renal blood flow and glomerular filtration rate which leads to an increase in serum creatinine level. Closely monitor the patient's renal function

Hepatic dysfunction:

The use of immunosuppressant has contraindicated the patients who are having rheumatoid arthritis and psoriasis with hepatic dysfunction because immunosuppressant is metabolized in the liver and eliminated through bile and feces. The use of this drug may alter the hepatic and bilirubin functions. Closely monitor the patient hepatic functions

Take the medicine as directed by the doctor don’t overdose on the medicine. If you have taken an overdose on this medicine immediately meet the doctor and rush to the nearby hospital.

Take the medicine as directed by the doctor. Do not skip the medicine, if you forgot to take the medicine or missed the dose. It is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Don’t take the extra dose take the regular dose immediately. Don’t use the two-dose at one time (Double Dose).
