Gastrogyl Plus Tablet contains Ciprofloxacin 250mg, Tinidazole 600mg and Dicyclomine 10mg used to treat both bacterial and parasitic infections such as diarrhea. Ciprofloxacin 250mg is an antibiotic that helps to inhibit the growth of infection. Tinidazole 600mg is a Nitroimidazole derivative Antibacterial and Antiprotozoal drug which kills parasites and anaerobic bacteria. Dicyclomine 10mg is an antispasmodic agent. The combination of these medicines inhibits the growth of microbes that cause infections and it also helps to get relief from cramps, pain, bloating, and stomach discomfort.

Infectious diarrhea

It is also called gastroenteritis. It is usually caused by viruses, bacteria, and parasites (Salmonella enteritidis, E.coli, Shigella, Norovirus, Rotavirus, Adenovirus, Giardia lamblia, Cryptosporidium. It occurs due to increased secretion of fluid and electrolytes in the intestine.

• Do not take this medicine if you are allergic to Ciprofloxacin, dicyclomine, and Tinidazole
• The use of these medicines associated with side effects include tendinitis, tendon rupture, peripheral neuropathy, and the central nervous system effects
• It is contraindicated to use this medicine in patients who are having a history of myasthenia gravis
• It is contraindicated to use this medicine in patients who are having a history of closed-angle glaucoma, paralytic ileus, toxic megacolon, GI obstruction, obstructive uropathy, severe ulcerative colitis.

Alcohol

Pregnancy

Gastrogyl Plus Tablet is taken orally with or without food. You should not chew, cut or crush the tablet. Initially start with a low dose and slowly increase the dose once every week. Follow the direction mentioned within the label if you probably did not understand the appliance kindly ask your doctor or pharmacist to elucidate in detail. Do not withdraw the medicine when you feel better kindly complete the course of treatment to avoid reoccurrence.

• Therapy should be administered with caution if you have hematologic and renal toxicities
• The use of this medicine may cause hepatotoxicity and peripheral neuropathy
• You may develop fatal hypoglycemia in elderly people who are with or without diabetes
• Avoid sunlight because the use of this medicine can cause photosensitivity
• Therapy should be administered with caution in patients with a history of benign prostatic hyperplasia, ulcerative colitis, and congestive heart failure
• There is an increased risk for developing fluoroquinolone associated tendinitis and tendon rupture in patients who are over 60 years of age
• At long-term use, it may cause fungal or bacterial superinfection
• The use of this medicine may cause C difficile associated colitis
• Use this medicine with care in patients who are having a history of blood dyscrasia, agranulocytosis, leucopenia, and neutropenia
• Kindly avoid receiving this medicine along with antiandrogen because it may cause gynecomastia

              Tendinitis and Tendon rupture (Muscle damage)

• This medicine causes tendinitis and tendon rupture, which mainly affects your shoulder, hands, ankles, or other joint parts of your body. And muscle damage also occurs usually on the tendons surrounding the muscles. It may experience pain, numbness, or tingling sensations in your muscles. It should be a risk in patients of more than 60 years of age or undergone a transplant of kidney, heart, or lung. If necessary, then needs dose adjustment or replacement

             Diarrhea

• This medicine kills the good helpful bacteria in your stomach or intestine and causes diarrhea. It leads to worsening the patient’s health condition. Better to take probiotics with this medicine to avoid diarrhea.

             Antibiotic resistance

• Finish the complete course of antibiotics even if you feel better. Otherwise, it will lead to Antibiotic resistance (the bacteria may be resistant to antibiotics)

• You have a history of gastrointestinal disease
• You are not responding to the treatment
• You have experienced any allergic reaction like rashes and itching

Drug-Drug Interaction

BCG vaccine live

The use of this drug is contraindicated because the use of medicine decreases the effect of the BCG vaccine live by pharmacodynamic antagonism

Aluminum hydroxide

Use alternative drugs because the use of aluminum hydroxide decreases the effect of Ciprofloxacin by inhibiting the GI absorption

Escitalopram

Therapy should be administered with caution because the use of escitalopram increase the toxicity of Ciprofloxacin by QTc interval

Dronabinol

The use of this drug is contraindicated because the use of tinidazole increases the toxicity of dronabinol by inhibiting aldehyde dehydrogenase

Ketoconazole

Use alternative drugs because the use of ketoconazole increases the effect of tinidazole by affecting its hepatic or intestinal metabolism

Fluorouracil

Use alternative drugs because the use of tinidazole will increase the effect of fluorouracil by decreasing its hepatic clearance

Drug-Food Interaction

By using this medicine with dairy products, multivitamins with minerals should be maintained time gap at least 2 to 4 hours before or 4 to 6 hours after taking this medicine.

Drug-Disease Interaction

Central nervous system disorders

Using this medicine is needs caution in patients with seizures, other central nervous system abnormalities, or fits. It causes hallucinations, anxiety, confusion, and restlessness, etc. Inform the doctor, then will do dose adjustment or replacement is needed. If necessary to take this medicine with seizure medications.

Colitis

This medicine kills the good helpful bacteria in your stomach or intestine and causes diarrhea. This drug should be used caution in patients with gastrointestinal disease, especially colitis (swelling of the colon inner lining). It leads to worsening the patient’s health condition.

QT prolongation

This drug should be used with caution in patients with heart-related problems such as irregular heart rate, in which this drug alters the heart rate.

Kidney diseases

It should be used with caution in a patient with renal impairment or kidney disease. Then it leads to the risk of kidney damage. Based on the patient clinical condition, adjust the dose accordingly.

Neurologic toxicity

Using this medicine should be cautious in patients with neurological toxicity (convulsions and peripheral neuropathy) leads to develop numbness, tingling, or burning sensation of hands and feet like neurological effects leads to worsening the patient health condition.

Blood Dyscrasias

Using this medicine should be cautious in patients with blood Dyscrasias (low blood count) leads to a decrease in the blood cell count tends to develop leukopenia, thrombocytopenia, and bone marrow aplasia. It leads to worsening the patient's health condition.

Take the medicine as directed by the doctor don’t overdose on the medicine. If you have taken an overdose of this medicine immediately meet the doctor and rush to the nearby hospital.

Take the medicine as directed by the doctor. Do not skip the medicine, if you forgot to take the medicine or missed the dose. It is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Don’t take the extra dose take the regular dose immediately. Don’t use the two-dose at one time (Double Dose).
