Gemacta 1000mg Injection

Gemacta 1000mg Injection contains Gemcitabine 1000mg used to treat cancer of pancreases, breast, lungs, urinary, and ovaries. It works by inhibiting the growth and multiplication by interfering in the DNA and RNA of cancer cells. It is not recommended in children.

It is used in the treatment of the following conditions as breast cancer, non-small cell lung cancer, pancreatic cancer, urinary bladder cancer, and ovarian cancer.  

Non-small cancer lung cancer

It is a type of lung cancer. It grows and spreads slowly when compared with small cell lung cancer. Smoking is considered a major risk factor for non-small cancer lung cancer. Symptoms include chronic cough, shortness of breath, chest pain, bone pain, and headache.

Breast cancer

It is a type of cancer that forms in the breast cells. It is common among women. Symptoms include breast lump, change in breast size, redness, pitting of the skin, color change, and peeling surrounding the breast skin or nipple. This medicine helps to inhibit the multiplication of cancer cells.

Urothelial carcinoma

It is also called bladder cancer. It is a type of cancer that begins in the cells in the bladder. It usually occurs when changes occur in the DNA. Symptoms include back pain, blood in urine, frequent urination, and pain while urinating.

Ovarian cancer

It is a type of cancer that occurs in an ovary a female reproductive system that produces women’s eggs and female hormones. The exact is not clear but if you have a history of ovarian cancer in your family. Symptoms include abdominal bloating, weight loss, discomfort in the pelvic area, fatigue, back pain, constipation, and frequent urination. This medicine helps to inhibit the multiplication of cancer cells.

Pancreatic cancer

It usually starts in the tissue of your pancreas, the organ in your abdomen which lies behind the stomach. Smoking, diabetes pancreatitis, obesity may increase the chance of developing pancreatic cancer. Symptoms include abdominal pain, loss of appetite, yellow color of skin, light-colored stools, itchy skin, dark-colored urine, blood clots, and fatigue. This medicine helps to inhibit the multiplication of cancer cells.

The Gemacta 1000mg Injection  is prescribed in the following indications as breast cancer, non-small cell lung cancer, pancreatic cancer, urinary bladder cancer, and ovarian cancer.  

Gemacta 1000mg Injection contains Gemcitabine 1000mg is an anti-cancer medication, antimetabolite. It produces its by converting phosphorylated to triphosphate and incorporating it into DNA thus inhibiting DNA chain elongation and causing masked DNA chain termination, DNA fragmentation, and apoptosis of abnormal cancer cells. Thus Gemcitabine inhibits proliferation and induces apoptosis of abnormal cancer cells.

Gemacta 1000mg Injection contains Gemcitabine 1000mg is an anti-cancer medication, antimetabolite. It produces its action by converting into triphosphate an active metabolite that incorporates into DNA molecule thus terminating elongation and causing fragmentation of DNA. Thus inhibits proliferation and induces apoptosis of abnormal cancer cells.

You should not withdraw the medicine immediately, you should taper the dose to avoid rebound effects.           

• How to treat constipation during the treatment?

To treat constipation drink plenty of water a day and keep you active, add fiber to your diet. If you do not have a bowel movement for more than 3 days kindly consult with your doctor.

• Serious thrombotic microangiopathy, capillary leak syndrome was reported while you are receiving this medicine
• The use of this medicine may cause pulmonary toxicity includes interstitial pneumonitis, pulmonary fibrosis, pulmonary edema was reported
• Drug-induced liver injuries were reported
• Posterior reversible encephalopathy syndrome such as headache, lethargy, hypertension, confusion, seizure, blurred vision was reported
• The use of this medicine may cause myelosuppression

• You are not responding to the treatment
• You have experienced any allergic reaction like rashes and itching
• You have a receiving any concomitant medication and disease
• You develop shortness of breath

Drug-Drug Interaction

Tofacitinib

Use alternative drug because the combination of this medicine either increases the toxicity of the other by immunosuppressive effect and it also increases the risk for developing an infection

Dichlorphenamide

Therapy should be administered with caution because the combination of this medicine decreases the serum potassium

Heparin

Therapy should be administered with caution because the use of gemcitabine increases the effect of heparin by unspecified interaction mechanisms.

Olaparib

Therapy should be administered with caution because the combination of this medicine increases the pharmacodynamic synergism and increase the myelosuppression toxicity

Infections

The use of this medicine is contraindicated in patients who are having the infectious disease because of their cytotoxic effect their induce myelosuppression.

Cardiovascular dysfunction

Therapy should be administered with caution in patients with cardiovascular dysfunction because the use of this medicine cause cardiovascular events such as arrhythmia, hypertension, and myocardial infarction

Hemolytic uremic syndrome

Before initiating the treatment kindly assess the patient renal function because the use of this medicine leads to hemolytic uremic syndrome such as renal failure

Myelosuppression

Therapy should be administered with caution in patients with bone marrow suppression because the use of this medicine induces dose-related myelosuppression, leucopenia, thrombocytopenia, and anemia

Pulmonary dysfunction

Therapy should be administered with caution in patients with a history of pulmonary disease because the use of this medicine may cause interstitial pneumonitis, pulmonary fibrosis, edema, and adult respiratory distress syndrome was reported.
