Ritonavir is a potent CYP3A inhibitor that increases plasma medicine concentrations of other protease inhibitors thus mostly used in combination with other protease inhibitors to control and treat HIV-1 infection. Thus, the combination of Lopinavir and Ritonavir is used in treating and controlling the multiplication of the HIV-1 virus in the host and improves immunity.
