Imulast 400mg Tablet

Imulast 400mg Tablet contains Hydroxychloroquine (400 mg) used to treat Malaria, Malaria prophylaxis, Rheumatoid arthritis, Systemic lupus erythematosus, and Discoid lupus erythematosus. Hydroxychloroquine is a Quinoline Antimalarial drug, Antirheumatic drug, Aminoquinoline drug that helps to decrease the progression of the diseases and get relief from pain, swelling, and redness.

It is used in the treatment of the following conditions as parasitic infections as Malaria, Malaria prophylaxis, Rheumatoid arthritis, Systemic lupus erythematosus, and Discoid lupus erythematosus.

Parasitic infections

It is an organism that lives in another organism like your body for its food and place to survive. You can get a parasitic infection from contaminated water, food, bug bites o sexual contact. It is a one-celled organism called protozoa which can be seen in the naked eye. Symptoms include stomach pain, nausea, vomiting, dehydration, weight loss, inflamed lymph nodes, constipation, diarrhea, rashes, eczema, hives, muscle, and joint pain.

Malaria

It is also called plasmodium infection. It spread to humans through infected mosquito bites. It is caused by a single-celled parasite called Plasmodium. Symptoms include fever, chills, headache, diarrhea, abdominal pain, fatigue, rapid breathing, rapid heart rate, cough, and muscle pain.

It is a chronic autoimmune disease that affects your skin. The exact cause of this disease is unknown. Symptoms include round lesions, peeling, blister, thickening of the scalp, ulcers inside the lips, permanent scarring, and brittle fingernails.

Imulast 400mg Tablet contains Hydroxychloroquine is a disease-modifying Anti-Rheumatoid drug that produces its action by decreasing the activity of the immune system that causes inflammation and pain in the joints. It also helps to decrease the progression of the diseases.

Yes, you have to be cautious because the use of this medicine can lower your blood glucose level and it may lead to loss of consciousness. Kindly monitor your sugar level while you are receiving this medicine.

• Do I need to take any tests during Imulast 400mg Tablet treatment?

Yes, you have to take an eye test while you are receiving this medicine every 12 months and your doctor will advise you to take complete blood count and liver function tests.

The Tablet is taken orally with or without food. You should not chew, cut or crush the tablet. Initially start with a low dose and slowly increase the dose once every week. • The use of this medicine may cause skeletal muscle myopathy, neuropathy, depressed tendon reflexes, and abnormal nerve conduction
• Severe hypoglycemia was reported while you are receiving this medicine
• Therapy should be administered with caution in patients who are having a history of hepatic disease, glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase deficiency.
• The use of this medicine may cause dermatological reactions, Cardiac effects like cardiomyopathy and ocular toxicity

Drug-Drug Interaction

BCG vaccine live

The use of this drug is contraindicated because the use of medicine decreases the effect of the BCG vaccine live by pharmacodynamic antagonism

Lefamulin

The use of this drug is contraindicated because the use of lefamulin will increase the effect of Hydroxychloroquine by affecting its hepatic and intestinal enzyme metabolism.

Adalimumab

Use alternative drug because the combination of this drug increases the effect of immunosuppressive and also increase the risk for developing an infection

Digoxin

Use alternative drugs because the use of hydroxychloroquine increases the effect of digoxin by an unknown mechanism.

Fostemsavir

Therapy should be administered with caution because the combination of this drug may increase the QTc interval.

Drug-Food Interaction

Consuming grapefruit along with this medicine may increase the effect of hydroxychloroquine which results in irregular heart rate and conduction disturbances. Kindly consult with your doctor if you experience dizziness, lightheadedness, fainting, shortness of breath.

Drug-Disease Interaction

Oculotoxicity

Therapy should not be recommended in patients with Oculotoxicity (retinal, or visual field changes leads to develop blurred vision, difficulty in reading, light flashes, etc.), which leads to worsening the patient health conditions.

Porphyria

Therapy should not be recommended in patients with Porphyria (group of disorders that results in the accumulation of porphyrins (essential for the functioning of hemoglobin) in the body, leading to developing abdominal pain, nausea, and vomiting), leads to worsening the patient health conditions.

Blood disorders

Therapy should be used with caution in patients with Blood disorders (including anemia, thrombocytopenia, etc.), which leads to worsening the patient's health conditions. Based on the patient's health conditions, dose adjustment, or replacement is needed.

Seizures

Therapy should be used with caution in patients with seizures, which leads to worsening the patient's health conditions. Based on the patient's health conditions, dose adjustment, or replacement is needed.

Liver diseases

Therapy should be used with caution in a patient with hepatic impairment or liver diseases. Then it leads to the risk of liver damage. Based on the patient clinical conditions, dose adjustment or replacement is needed.

Take the medicine as directed by the doctor don’t overdose on the medicine. If you have taken an overdose of this medicine immediately meet the doctor and rush to the nearby hospital.
