Inbec Tablet contains Abacavir 600mg, Dolutegravir 50mg and Lamivudine 300mg. Inbec tablet is an antiviral medicine used in the treatment of Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) – 1 infection. Dolutegravir is an integrase strand transfer inhibitor. Lamivudine and Abacavir is a nucleoside analogue. This tablet combination works by reducing the viral load of HIV in your body &  improves your immune system to reduces the risk of conditions associated with HIV infection. 

Inbec tablet is used to treat adults and adolescence above the weight class 40kg only who are infected by HIV-1.

Inbec tablet is used to help control HIV infection. This tablet helps to decrease the amount of HIV in your body thus your immunity works better by reducing your chance of getting HIV complications like co-infections and other cancers. Inbec tablet is not a cure for HIV infection, it improves immunity that results in longevity of life. It is recommended for use in children from 40kgs and in adults.

Inbec tablet is indicated in the treatment of HIV-1 infection that causes AIDS in humans. It boosts the immunity of the affected hosts and is indicated in adults and children above 40kgs. Caution is used in the case of HLA-B5701 allele carriers and hepatitis B virus.

Inbec tablet combination dolutegravir is a inhibits strand transfer activity of integrase in DNA thus blocks replication of HV-1. Lamivudine is an analogue that is phosphorylated to its active forms lamivudine triphosphate that is incorporated into the nucleotide and inhibits the action of HIV-1 reverse transcriptase. Abacavir is an analogue that is phosphorylated to its active forms lamivudine triphosphate that is incorporated into the nucleotide and inhibits the action of HIV-1 reverse transcriptase. Thus, the active HIV molecules become inactive and further reproduction and multiplication process is stopped.

 Dolutegravir inhibits the transfer of integrase in DNA and Lamivudine and abacavir incorporates themselves into the DNA thus stops the replication of viral particles. Thereby preventing the formation of mature virus particles into infectious virions that spreads the infection.

Absolute contraindications:

• if you are allergic to Inbec (Abacavir (600mg) + Dolutegravir (50mg) + Lamivudine (300mg)) tablet and its contents
• if you are HLA-B5701 allele carrier
• if you are pregnant
• if you are breastfeeding
• if you have kidney disease

Relative contraindications:

• if you have a liver disease like hepatitis B or C
• if you are diabetic
• if you have a bleeding disorder like haemophilia
• if you have heart diseases

Very common side effects that occur in more than 1:10 patients: headache, diarrhoea, nausea, hypersensitivity

Common side effects that occur 1:10 patients: pruritus, vomiting, abdominal pain, flatulence, insomnia, abnormal dreams, depression dizziness, tiredness, changes in LFT and increased creatine kinase, insomnia, Cough, vomiting, abdominal pain or cramps, Rash, alopecia, Arthralgia, Fatigue, malaise, fever, hypophosphataemia, asthenia, alopecia, hyperlactatemia

Uncommon side effects that occur 1:100 patients: hepatitis, suicidal thoughts and behaviours, joint and muscle pain, Neutropenia and anaemia, thrombocytopenia, hypokalaemia, proximal renal tubulopathy 

Rare side effects that occur 1:1000 patients: osteonecrosis, Pure red cell aplasia, Lactic acidosis, Peripheral neuropathy, Rhabdomyolysis, pancreatitis, cardiomyopathy, convulsions, rhabdomyolysis, raise in AST and ALT levels

Very rare side effects that occur 1:10,000 patients: erythema multiform, Stevens-Johnson syndrome, toxic epidermal necrolysis, lactic acidosis, pure red cell aplasia, paresthesia

Inbec tablet should not be crushed or chewed it must be swallowed.

After therapy has been initiated, do not take more or less of Inbec than prescribed or stop taking it without your physicians’ approval. Skipping or changing Inbec tablet dose without approval may cause the amount of the virus to increase making the infection more difficult to treat, or worsen side effects.

If you are pregnant or breastfeeding inform your physician as they are not advisable.

Inbec (Abacavir (600mg) + Dolutegravir (50mg) + Lamivudine (300mg)) tablet has only been used in few patients 65 years or older. Dosage and usage are similar to adults. Discuss with your physician before usage.

• New onset diabetes mellitus or hyperglycemia – Monitor blood glucose and insulin levels. When needed add oral hypoglycemic and insulin
• Blood disorders Hemophilia, hemolytic anemia
• Skin reactions - It can be mild to severe like Stevens-Johnson syndrome and toxic epidermal necrolysis.
• Musculoskeletal problems - Osteonecrosis that causes joint stiffness and pain in larger joints like shoulder, hip, and knee
• Accumulation or Redistribution of body fat or
• Immune reconstitution syndrome.
• Any sign of infection – fever or lymph node enlargement
• Lactose intolerance or galactose malabsorption

Metabolism increased by Carbamazepine, Oxcarbazepine, Phenytoin, Phenobarbital

Metabolism decreased by Ketoconazole, Fluconazole, Itraconazole

Serum concentration increased by Clarithromycin, fluconazole, amphotericin B, Aceclofenac

Serum concentration decreased by - Hydrochlorothiazide, Isosorbide

Efficacy is decreased by - methadone

Decreased absorption caused by Magnesium/aluminum-containing antacid

Risk of cytopenia increased when combined with – Ganciclovir

Inbec tablet can be safely taken with food, if doubts arise kindly refer to your physician. This tablet generally causes side effects thus it is advised not to be taken with alcohol.

• Liver disorders – used with caution in severe liver diseases. Consult physician before use
• Kidney disorders – used with caution in severe kidney diseases. Consult physician before use
• Cardiac disorders – used with caution in heart failure and MI. Consult physician before use
• Respiratory disorders – used with caution in respiratory distress. Consult physician before use
• Blood disorders – used with caution in anemia and hemophilia. Consult physician before use

In general, if you take once a day dosage, the missed single dose of Inbec tablet can be taken within the next 12 hrs, you can take it. If it is more than 12 hrs, skip the dose and take the next dose at the recommended time. Don’t take a double dose for a forgotten dose.
