Karplat 450mg Infusion contains Carboplatin 450mg it’s an antineoplastic medication and alkylating agent. It is a platinum analogue. It is used in the treatment of ovarian cancer. It is used as an orphan drug in the advanced stages of cervical cancer, endometrial cancer, esophageal cancer, head and neck cancer, melanoma, non-small cell lung cancer, sarcoma, small cell lung cancer, testicular cancer, and thymoma. It is also used as an orphan drug in metastatic breast cancer and neuroendocrine carcinoma of the skin.

Karplat 450mg Infusion is used in the treatment of advanced ovarian cancer. It is not used in neonates. It is also used as an orphan drug in several cancers and leukemia.

Mechanism of action of Karplat 450mg Infusion
Carboplatin is an alkylating medication. It causes intra- and inter-strand crosslinks between DNA bases causing break in DNA strand thus apoptosis is induced resulting in cell death of abnormal DNA containing cancer cells.

How to Take Karplat 450mg Infusion
This Infusion is used only in the presence of physician; Do not shake medicine containing vial while diluting or infusing; It is compatible with D5W; Do not use NS or chloride containing solutions; It is infused into 250-500ml of D5W and administered as slow infusion; Refrigerate unopened or opened 8?C
After therapy has been initiated, do not take more or less of this drug than prescribed or stop taking it without your physicians’ approval. Skipping or changing your dose without approval may cause adverse effects making the condition more difficult to treat, or worsen side effects.

If you are pregnant or breastfeeding inform your physician as they are not advisable.

This Infusion is not recommended in children less than 2 years of age. If used to be done so only with caution.
