    Kefpod O 200 mg/200 mg Tablets contain Cefpodoxime Proxetil 200mg and Ofloxacin 200mg used to treat bacterial infections such as Sinusitis, Tonsillitis/Pharyngitis, Bronchitis, Community-Acquired pneumonia, and Typhoid fever. Mainly this medicine targets the lungs, urinary tract, ear, nasal sinus, throat, and skin. Cefpodoxime Proxetil is an antibiotic that helps to fight against bacteria. Ofloxacin is an antibiotic that helps to inhibit the growth of infection. The combination of these medicines fight against the bacteria and prevent the growth of microbes which is responsible for infections. This medicine is not used for common flu and cold symptoms that occur due to viral infections. This medicine is commonly prescribed for cough and colds caused by bacterial infections. Swallow the whole tablet at once. Don’t break, chew, or crush the tablet

    • This medicine causes tendinitis and tendon rupture, which mainly affects your shoulder, hands, ankles, or other joint parts of your body. And muscle damage also occurs usually on the tendons surrounding the muscles. It may experience pain, numbness, or tingling sensations in your muscles. It should be a risk in patients of more than 60 years of age or undergone a transplant of kidney, heart, or lung. If necessary, then needs dose adjustment or replacement

               Diarrhea

    • This medicine kills the good helpful bacteria in your stomach or intestine and causes diarrhea. It leads to worsening the patient’s health condition. Better to take probiotics with this medicine to avoid diarrhea.

    • Finish the complete course of antibiotics even if you feel better. Otherwise, it will lead to Antibiotic resistance (the bacteria may be resistant to antibiotics)

    Drug Interaction of Kefpod O 200 mg/200 mg Tablet

    Drug-Drug Interaction

    BCG vaccine live

    The use of this drug is contraindicated because the use of Cefpodoxime decreases the effect of the BCG vaccine live by pharmacodynamic antagonism

    Argatroban

    Use alternative drugs because the use of cefpodoxime will increase the effect of argatroban by anticoagulation

    Aluminum hydroxide

    Therapy should be administered with caution because the use of aluminum hydroxide will decrease the effect of cefpodoxime by increasing its gastric pH.

    Doxycycline

    Therapy should be administered with caution because the use of Doxycycline decreases the effect of Cefpodoxime by pharmacodynamic antagonism

    Escitalopram

    Therapy should be administered with caution because the use of escitalopram increase the toxicity of Ofloxacin by QTc interval

    Estradiol

    Therapy should be administered with caution because the use of Ofloxacin decreases the effect of estradiol by altering the intestinal flora and it also lowers the risk of contraceptive failure.

    Anti-diabetic drug

    Therapy should be administered with caution because the use of Ofloxacin increases the effect of glimepiride by pharmacodynamic synergism.

    Renal dysfunction:

    Therapy should be administered with caution because the serum concentration of the antibiotics and their metabolites may be increased and the half-lives of these drugs prolonged in patients with impaired renal function. You have to adjust the dose based on the severity of the infection.

    Liver diseases:

    Therapy should be administered with caution in patients with hepatic impairment because the use of this drug may cause hepatitis and it also increases the SGOT, SGPT, and alkaline phosphatase level

    Seizure disorders:

    Therapy should be administered with caution in patients who have a history of epilepsy because the use of this drug may stimulate seizure and it also cause encephalopathy, coma, asterixis, neuromuscular excitability, and myoclonia

    Central nervous system disorders

    Using this medicine is needs caution in patients with seizures, other central nervous system abnormalities, or fits. It causes hallucinations, anxiety, confusion, and restlessness, etc. Inform the doctor, then will do dose adjustment or replacement is needed. If necessary to take this medicine with seizure medications.

    Colitis

    This medicine kills the good helpful bacteria in your stomach or intestine and causes diarrhea. This drug should be used caution in patients with gastrointestinal disease, especially colitis (swelling of the colon inner lining). It leads to worsening the patient’s health condition.

    QT prolongation

    This drug should be used with caution in patients with heart-related problems such as irregular heart rate, in which this drug alters the heart rate.


    Over Dose

    Take the medicine as directed by the doctor don’t overdose on the medicine. If you have taken an overdose of this medicine immediately meet the doctor and rush to the nearby hospital.


    Missed Dose

    Take the medicine as directed by the doctor. Do not skip the medicine, if you forgot to take the medicine or missed the dose.
