    Medical Description of Lenangio 10mg Capsule

    Lenangio 10mg Capsule contains Lenalidomide 10mg used to treat Myelodysplastic syndrome, multiple myeloma, mantle cell lymphoma, follicular lymphoma. It works by increasing the immune system which indirectly attacks the cancer cells. It also decreases the production of chemical messengers which is responsible for the cancer cells to grow.

    It is used in the treatment of the following conditions as Myelodysplastic syndrome, multiple myeloma, mantle cell lymphoma, follicular lymphoma.

    Multiple myeloma

    It is also called Kahler’s disease. It is a type of cancer that occurs in a plasma cell. In this condition, cancer gets accumulated in the bone marrow and affects healthy blood cells. Symptoms include constipation, loss of appetite, fatigue, bone pain, weight loss, frequent infections, excessive thirst, and numbness in your legs.

    Myelodysplastic syndrome

    It is also called preleukemia. It occurs when our blood cells do not form or work properly. Symptoms include fatigue, shortness of breath, pallor, anemia, thrombocytopenia, bleeding, and leucopenia

    Mantle cell lymphoma

    It is a type of non-Hodgkin's lymphoma cancer. It usually affects a part of your immune system called the lymphatic system.     Lenangio 10mg Capsule Indication

    The Lenangio 10mg Capsule is prescribed in the following indications as

    • multiple myeloma – treated with dexamethasone after hematopoietic stem cell transplantation as maintenance therapy
    • myelodysplastic syndrome – transfusion dependant type associated with 5q deletion
    • mantle cell lymphoma – relapsed or progressive type already treated with bortezomib
    • follicular lymphoma – treated with rituximab
    • marginal cell lymphoma – treated with rituximab

    Lenangio 10mg Capsule should not be used in patients with chronic lymphocytic leukemia.


    Mechanism of action of Lenangio 10mg Capsule

    Lenangio 10mg Capsule contains Lenalidomide 10mg is an anti-cancer medication, an Angiogenesis inhibitor. Lenalidomide has several functions: it is an immunomodulator (alters cytokine, T cell, and NK cell-mediated actions); it is E3 ubiquitin ligase complex (affects B cell transcription factor required for B cell differentiation): it represses IL-2 gene (thereby increasing NK cells and CD4+ T cells); it inhibits proliferation and activates apoptosis; it inhibits angiogenic growth receptor factors like VFGF, BFGF, and hepatocyte growth factor; it inhibits adhesion molecules and gap junction function thus prevents metastasis of malignant cells.

    Drug-Drug Interaction

    Anakinra

    It is contraindicated to use this medicine because the use of anakinra increases the effect of Lenalidomide and the combination of this medicine increase the risk of developing an infection

    Deferiprone

    Use alternative drug because the combination of this medicine either increases the toxicity of the other by pharmacodynamic synergism

    Cholera vaccine

    Therapy should be administered with caution because the use of Lenalidomide decreases the effect of cholera vaccine by immunosuppressive effects and it also increases the risk of developing an infection

    Lemborexant

    Therapy should be administered with caution because the use of lemborexant will increase the effect of the thalidomide by sedation

    Renal impairment

    Dosage adjustment is required in patients with moderate or severe renal impairment and patients who are on dialysis because this medicine is excreted by the kidney.
