Mahaflox CX Tablet contains Moxifloxacin 400mg and Cefixime 400mg used to treat bacterial infections such as like urinary tract infection, Tonsillitis/pharyngitis, Bronchitis, Respiratory tract infection, Otitis media, Bone and joint infection. Mainly this medicine targets infection of the chest, ears, skin, throat, stomach, and urinary tract. Cefixime is an antibiotic used to treat infections. Moxifloxacin is an antibiotic that helps to inhibit the growth of infection. The combination of this medicine helps to fight against the bacteria which are responsible for the infection.

It is used in the treatment of the following conditions as urinary tract infection, Tonsillitis/pharyngitis, Bronchitis, Respiratory tract infection, Otitis media, Bone and joint infection, and Gonorrhoea

Bacterial infections

Bacterial infection occurs when bacteria enter your body and start multiplying which may cause tissue damage and make you sick. Mostly it is caused by Staphylococcus and Streptococcus organisms. The bacterial diseases are cholera, bacterial meningitis, tetanus, gonorrhea, pneumonia, and syphilis. Symptoms include fever, chills, and sweats, inflamed lymph nodes, headache, diarrhea, abdominal pain

Urinary tract infection

It is a type of infection that affects the urethra, kidneys, and bladder. It is caused by Escherichia coli (E.coli). Symptoms include abdominal pain, frequent urination, dysuria, blood in urine, foul-smell while urinating

Acute bronchitis

It is a viral infection that causes inflammation in the bronchial tubes. It is mostly caused by rhinovirus, adenovirus, influenza A and B, and parainfluenza virus. Symptoms include cough, fatigue, breathing difficulty, fever and chills, and chest discomfort.

Bone and joint infection

Bone infection is also called Osteomyelitis. It is caused by bacteria called staphylococcus which travels through the bloodstream to the weak area in a bone. Symptoms include fever, pain, fatigue, tenderness, redness, and warmth.

Lower respiratory tract infections

Infection in the lungs especially in the lower airways Common infections are Bronchiolitis and Pneumonia which are caused by Streptococcus pneumonia. Symptoms include runny nose, dry cough, sore throat, low-grade fever, and headache.

Tonsillitis/Pharyngitis

Infection of the swelling and soreness in the throat and tonsils is called pharyngitis and tonsillitis. The infection that affects both throat and tonsil is called pharyngotonsillitis. It is caused by bacteria.

Otitis media

It is also called an ear infection. While compared with adults children are more prone to this infection. It is caused by Streptococcus pneumonia. Symptoms include ear pain, difficulty in sleeping, loss of balance, headache, loss of appetite, and drainage of fluid from the ear.

• Do not take this medicine if you are allergic to Cefixime and Moxifloxacin
• Kindly avoid using this medicine while you are receiving Lidocaine and calcium-containing products
• Kindly avoid this medicine if you are having hepatic and renal impairment, Seizures
• The use of this medicine may cause Immune-mediated hemolytic anemia
• It is contraindicated to use the medicine that may prolong the QT interval
• The use of Fluoroquinolones associated with some serious adverse reactions includes tendinitis, tendon rupture, peripheral neuropathy, and CNS effects

Yes, it is considered effective when you have taken the medication as per the dose and duration advised by the doctor. If you stop the medicine without completing the course of treatment it may worsen the conditions

If you do not feel better after completing the full course of treatment kindly inform your doctor.

• Can the use of the Mahaflox CX Tablet cause diarrhea?

Yes, the use of this medicine can cause diarrhea while killing the harmful bacteria it also affects the bacteria which is present in the intestine this lead to diarrhea

Mahaflox CX Tablet is taken orally with or without food. You should not chew, cut or crush the tablet. Initially start with a low dose and slowly increase the dose once every week. Follow the direction mentioned within the label if you probably did not understand the appliance kindly ask your doctor or pharmacist to elucidate in detail. Do not withdraw the medicine when you feel better kindly complete the course of treatment to avoid reoccurrence.

• Therapy should be administered with caution if you have a history of penicillin allergy and gastrointestinal disease
• Long-term use may cause bacterial or fungal overgrowth
• The use of this medicine may cause Immune-mediated hemolytic anemia, kindly discontinue the treatment if you have anemia
• The use of this medicine may cause renal failure like tubulointerstitial nephritis
• It produces limited effect against anaerobes
• Kindly avoid sunlight because the use of this medicine may cause photosensitivity
• The use of this medicine may cause clostridium difficile-associated diarrhea
• Kindly avoid using this medicine if you have peripheral neuropathy
• It should not be the first drug of choice to pediatrics due to the increased risk for developing adverse effect
• The use of fluoroquinolones is associated with an increased risk for developing tendinitis and tendon rupture
• Kindly avoid using fluoroquinolones in patients who are with a history of myasthenia gravis because the use of this medicine may cause muscle weakness
• The use of this medicine may cause CNS effects to include convulsions, increased intracranial pressure, and toxic psychosis

              Tendinitis and Tendon rupture (Muscle damage)

• This medicine causes tendinitis and tendon rupture, which mainly affects your shoulder, hands, ankles, or other joint parts of your body. And muscle damage also occurs usually on the tendons surrounding the muscles. It may experience pain, numbness, or tingling sensations in your muscles. It should be a risk in patients of more than 60 years of age or undergone a transplant of kidney, heart, or lung. If necessary, then needs dose adjustment or replacement

             Diarrhea

• This medicine kills the good helpful bacteria in your stomach or intestine and causes diarrhea. It leads to worsening the patient’s health condition. Better to take probiotics with this medicine to avoid diarrhea.

             Antibiotic resistance

• Finish the complete course of antibiotics even if you feel better. Otherwise, it will lead to Antibiotic resistance (the bacteria may be resistant to antibiotics)

• You have a history of gastrointestinal disease
• You are not responding to the treatment

Drug-Drug Interaction

BCG vaccine live                            

The use of this drug is contraindicated because the use of medicine decreases the effect of the BCG vaccine live by pharmacodynamic antagonism

Cholera vaccine

Use alternative drugs, because the use of the cholera vaccine with antibiotics may activate the vaccine strain. So, avoid receiving this combination of medicines before 14 days of vaccination

Estradiol:

Therapy should be administered with caution because the use of cefixime will decrease the effect of estradiol by altering the intestinal flora and it also lowers the risk of contraceptive failure

Aluminum hydroxide

Use alternative drugs because the use of aluminum hydroxide decreases the effect of gemifloxacin by inhibiting the GI absorption

Escitalopram

Therapy should be administered with caution because the use of escitalopram increase the toxicity of Moxifloxacin by QTc interval

Anti-diabetic drug

Therapy should be administered with caution because the use of Moxifloxacin increases the effect of glimepiride by pharmacodynamic synergism.

Central nervous system disorders

Using this medicine is needs caution in patients with seizures, other central nervous system abnormalities, or fits. It causes hallucinations, anxiety, confusion, and restlessness, etc. Inform the doctor, then will do dose adjustment or replacement is needed. If necessary to take this medicine with seizure medications.

Colitis

This medicine kills the good helpful bacteria in your stomach or intestine and causes diarrhea. This drug should be used caution in patients with gastrointestinal disease, especially colitis (swelling of the colon inner lining). It leads to worsening the patient’s health condition.

QT prolongation

This drug should be used with caution in patients with heart-related problems such as irregular heart rate, in which this drug alters the heart rate.

Kidney diseases

It should be used with caution in a patient with renal impairment or kidney disease. Then it leads to the risk of kidney damage. Based on the patient clinical condition, adjust the dose accordingly.

Seizures

Using this medicine is needs caution in patients with seizures or fits. Inform the doctor, then will do dose adjustment if necessary to take this medicine with seizure medications.

Take the medicine as directed by the doctor don’t overdose on the medicine. If you have taken an overdose of this medicine immediately meet the doctor and rush to the nearby hospital.

Take the medicine as directed by the doctor. Do not skip the medicine, if you forgot to take the medicine or missed the dose. It is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Don’t take the extra dose take the regular dose immediately. Don’t use the two-dose at one time (Double Dose).
