Nelfin tablet contains Nelfinavir 625mg. Nelfin (Nelfinavir (625mg)) tablet is an antiviral medicine used in the treatment of Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) – 1 infection. Nelfin tablet is a protease inhibitor. Nelfin tablet works by reducing the viral load of HIV in your body. Nelfin tablet improves your immune system and reduces the risk of conditions associated with HIV infection. Nelfin tablet is used in combination with other antivirals for efficiency.

Nelfin (Nelfinavir (625mg)) tablet is used to treat adults only who are infected by HIV-1. Nelfin tablet must be taken in combination with other anti-HIV medicines. Your doctor will discuss which combination of medicines is best for you.

Nelfin (Nelfinavir (625mg)) tablet is used with other anti-HIV medication to help control HIV infection. Nelfin tablet helps to decrease the amount of HIV virus in your body thus your immunity works better by reducing your chance of getting HIV complications like co-infections and other cancers. Nelfin tablet is protease inhibitor. Nelfin tablet is not a cure for HIV infection, it improves immunity that results in longevity of life. Nelfin tablet is recommended for use in children from age 2 and in adults.

Nelfin (Nelfinavir (625mg)) tablet is indicated in the treatment of HIV-1 infection that causes AIDS in humans. Nelfin tablet is used with other antiviral medications to boost the immunity of the affected hosts. Nel tablet is indicated in adults and children above age 2.

Common side effects that occur 1:10 patients: Nausea, Flatulence, Abdominal pain, Anemia, Allergic reaction, Impaired concentration, Lipodystrophy, Metabolic acidosis, Rash, Leukopenia, Thrombocytopenia, Weakness

Uncommon side effects that occur 1:100 patients: QTc prolongation, Torsades de pointes, Diabetes mellitus, new onset and exacerbation, Hyperglycemia

Nelfin tablet can be taken by a child as an oral powder or crush the tablet but do not divide the crushed dosage.

After therapy has been initiated, do not take more or less of Nelfin medicine than prescribed or stop taking it without your physicians’ approval. Skipping or changing the Nelfin tablet dose without approval may cause the amount of the virus to increase making the infection more difficult to treat, or worsen side effects.

The recommended dosage for Nelfin tablet is 1250mg taken twice per day or 750mg taken twice per day

Nelfin (Nelfinavir (625mg)) tablet must be taken with other antivirals as prescribed by the physician without fail. These medicines must be taken with food on a regular time basis.

The use of Nelfin (Nelfinavir (625mg)) tablet in less than 2 years of age is not recommended.

The recommended age is 2 to 13 years and dosage is calculated as 25-35 mg/kg given three times a day or 45-55mg/kg given two times a day

Nelfin (Nelfinavir (625mg)) tablet has only been used in few patients 65 years or older. Dosage and usage are similar to adults. Discuss with your physician before usage.

• New onset diabetes mellitus or hyperglycemia – Monitor blood glucose and insulin levels. When needed add oral hypoglycemic and insulin
• Blood disorders Hemophilia, hemolytic anemia
• Skin reactions - It can be mild to severe like Stevens-Johnson Syndrome and toxic epidermal necrolysis.
• Musculoskeletal problems - Osteonecrosis that causes joint stiffness and pain in larger joints like shoulder, hip, and knee
• Accumulation or Redistribution of body fat or
• immune reconstitution syndrome.
• Any sign of infection – fever or lymph node enlargement
• Lactose intolerance or galactose malabsorption

Drug-Drug Interaction

Drug-Food Interaction

In general, if you take once a day dosage, the missed single dose of Nelfin (Nelfinavir (625mg)) tablet can be taken within the next 12 hrs, you can take it. If it is more than 12 hrs, skip the dose and take the next dose at the recommended time. Don’t take a double dose for a forgotten dose.
