Norflox 200 Tablet contain Norfloxacin 200mg and Lactobacillus 60 Million spores used to treat bacterial infections such as Urinary tract infections and Gonorrhoea. Norfloxacin 200mg is an antibiotic that helps to inhibit the growth of infection. Mainly this bacterial infection targets the urinary tract, nose, throat, skin and soft tissues, and lungs. Lactobacillus 60 Million spores is an antidiarrheals/probiotic works by restoring the good bacteria that is killed due to the use of antibiotics. This combination of medicine helps to fight against the growth of microorganisms and it also prevents diarrhea which is associated with the use of antibiotics. This medicine is not used for common flu and cold symptoms that occur due to viral infections. This medicine is commonly prescribed for cough and colds caused by bacterial infections.

• Kindly avoid using this medicine if you have peripheral neuropathy

• The use of fluoroquinolones is associated with an increased risk for developing tendinitis and tendon rupture
• Kindly avoid using fluoroquinolones in patients who are with a history of myasthenia gravis because the use of this medicine may cause muscle weakness
• The use of this medicine may cause CNS effects to include convulsions, increased intracranial pressure, and toxic psychosis

              Tendinitis and Tendon rupture (Muscle damage)

• This medicine causes tendinitis and tendon rupture, which mainly affects your shoulder, hands, ankles, or other joint parts of your body. And muscle damage also occurs usually on the tendons surrounding the muscles. It may experience pain, numbness, or tingling sensations in your muscles. It should be a risk in patients of more than 60 years of age or undergone a transplant of kidney, heart, or lung. If necessary, then needs dose adjustment or replacement

              Diarrhea

• This medicine kills the good helpful bacteria in your stomach or intestine and causes diarrhea. It leads to worsening the patient’s health condition. Better to take probiotics with this medicine to avoid diarrhea.

               Antibiotic resistance

• Finish the complete course of antibiotics even if you feel better. Otherwise, it will lead to Antibiotic resistance (the bacteria may be resistant to antibiotics)

• You have a history of gastrointestinal disease
• You are not responding to the treatment
• You have experienced any allergic reaction like rashes and itching

Drug-Drug Interaction

BCG vaccine live

The use of this drug is contraindicated because the use of medicine decreases the effect of the BCG vaccine live by pharmacodynamic antagonism

Aluminum hydroxide

Use alternative drugs because the use of aluminum hydroxide decreases the effect of norfloxacin by inhibiting the GI absorption

Escitalopram

Therapy should be administered with caution because the use of escitalopram increase the toxicity of norfloxacin by QTc interval

Estradiol

Therapy should be administered with caution because the use of norfloxacin decreases the effect of estradiol by altering the intestinal flora and it also lowers the risk of contraceptive failure.

Anti-diabetic drug

Therapy should be administered with caution because the use of norfloxacin increases the effect of glimepiride by pharmacodynamic synergism.

Haloperidol

It should be administered with caution because the combination of this medicine increases the QTc interval.

Central nervous system disorders

Using this medicine is needs caution in patients with seizures, other central nervous system abnormalities, or fits. It causes hallucinations, anxiety, confusion, and restlessness, etc. Inform the doctor, then will do dose adjustment or replacement is needed. If necessary to take this medicine with seizure medications.

Colitis

This medicine kills the good helpful bacteria in your stomach or intestine and causes diarrhea. This drug should be used caution in patients with gastrointestinal disease, especially colitis (swelling of the colon inner lining). It leads to worsening the patient’s health condition.

QT prolongation

This drug should be used with caution in patients with heart-related problems such as irregular heart rate, in which this drug alters the heart rate.

Kidney diseases

It should be used with caution in a patient with renal impairment or kidney disease. Then it leads to the risk of kidney damage. Based on the patient clinical condition, adjust the dose accordingly.

Take the medicine as directed by the doctor don’t overdose on the medicine. If you have taken an overdose of this medicine immediately meet the doctor and rush to the nearby hospital.
