Ompec 20mg Capsule

Ompec 20mg Capsule contains Omeprazole 20mg. Omeprazole is a proton pump inhibitors (PPIs), an anti-ulcer agent used to treat the stomach and duodenal ulcers, gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), Erosive Esophagitis, Zollinger-Ellison syndrome. It decreases stomach acid secretion and  relieves ulcers caused by Helicobacter pylori infection, used in combination with antibiotics like amoxicillin or clarithromycin and metronidazole or tinidazole; acid related to dyspepsia and active benign gastric ulcers. Furthermore, it is used to treat stress ulcers and acid secretion during the intake of painkillers (NSAIDs).

This medicine is contraindicated to allergic symptoms such as skin rashes, itching, swelling, breathing difficulties etc, liver dysfunction, atrophic gastritis, vitamin and mineral deficiency.

Ompec 20mg Capsule is used in the treatment of the following conditions as Erosive esophagitis, Gastroesophageal reflux disease, Helicobacter pylori infection, Zollinger-Ellison syndrome, Gastroduodenal ulcers.

Erosive esophagitis

The swelling of esophagus (muscular tube helps food moves from the throat to the stomach) is called Esophagitis. It is caused due to excess acid production back flow from stomach to esophagus, resulting in a condition called Erosive esophagitis; it should irritate, and damages the lining of the esophagus. This medicine is used to treat this acid suppression in the stomach.

Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD)

GERD occurs due to stomach acid frequently flows backwards direction from the stomach to the esophagus, which leads to developing heartburn, and acid indigestion. Primarily it can manage with lifestyle changes and using OTC (Over the counter) medicines. Also, sometimes need surgery. This medicine is used to treat this backflow acid secretion in the stomach.

Helicobacter pylori infection

H. Pylori causes infection to the lining of the stomach called H. Pylori infection, gastritis, and peptic ulcer disease. This medicine is used in combination with antibiotics (amoxicillin or clarithromycin) and metronidazole or tinidazole to treat this bacterial infection.

Zollinger-Ellison syndrome

Tumours formed in the pancreas and duodenum leads to produce gastrin hormone, which in turn causes more acid secretion in the stomach is called Zollinger-Ellison syndrome. This medicine is used to treat this acid suppression in the stomach due to tumours.

Gastro- duodenal ulcers 

By increasing stomach acid secretion leads to develop gastro-duodenal ulcers. This medicine is used to treat this excessive stomach acid production. Also used to treat stress ulcers. 

Ompec 20mg Capsule is used in the treatment of the following conditions as Erosive esophagitis, Gastroesophageal reflux disease, Helicobacter pylori infection, Zollinger-Ellison syndrome, Gastroduodenal ulcers.

Ompec (Omeprazole) can also prescribe with a combination of antibiotics (amoxicillin, or clarithromycin), and metronidazole, or tinidazole to treat H. Pylori infection. Also used to treat stress ulcers, arises due to intake of NSAIDs. The course of this medicine is up to 8 weeks, infection not suppress, increase the course for more than 8 weeks in some cases. But, children should not be given more than 8 weeks. Swallow the whole capsule at once. Don’t break, chewed or crushed the capsule.

Ompec 20mg (Omeprazole) acts on the final step of gastric acid secretion; it blocks the acid releasing gastric parietal cell of the stomach. Parietal cell of the stomach contains H+/K+ ATP Pumps, which helps in acid secretion and then inhibits acid production by blocking these H+K+ ATP pumps. This action will last up to 24 hours, in between, more pumps will be produced by the stomach, which indicates the need to take the next dose to prevent the acid production in the stomach.

Omeprazole is a proton pump inhibitor, works by inhibiting the action of proton pumps (presented in the parietal cells of the stomach, involves acid secretion). Then it decreases the acid secretion from the stomach.
