Oseltaflu 75mg Capsule contains Oseltamivir 75mg it is a neuraminidase inhibitor. This Capsule is an antiviral that acts against influenza. This Capsule is primarily used in the treatment and prophylaxis of influenza A and B infection in healthy and immune-compromised.

Oseltaflu 75mg Capsule is used to treat children less than 1 year of age and adults who are infected by Influenza A and B. This Capsule is used as an orphan drug in the case of swine flu

More common side effects that occur more than 1:10 patients: Abdominal pain, conjunctivitis, Ear disorder, Epistaxis, Insomnia, Nausea, Vomiting, Vertigo

Common side effects that occur 1:10 patients: Anemia, Arrhythmia, Confusion, Delirium, Hemorrhagic colitis, Hepatitis, Peritonsillar abscess, Pneumonia, Pseudomembranous colitis, Pyrexia, Rash, Seizure, Toxic epidermal necrolysis, Unstable angina, Swelling of face or tongue

Uncommon side effects that occur in 1:100 patients: Hypothermia, Diaper rash, Dermatitis, Urticaria, Eczema, Stevens-Johnson syndrome, Erythema multiforme, Gastrointestinal bleeding, Abnormal liver function tests

Oseltaflu 75mg Capsule is not recommended in pregnancy. It causes fetotoxicity and neural tubal defects. Consult your physician.

The use of capsules during breastfeeding is not recommended as evidence shows less amount of the medication passes via breastfeeding to the baby that may cause adverse effects in newborn.

Kidney Problem

This capsule causes renal function impairment. Monitoring renal creatinine clearance and renal function before and during treatment.

Liver Disease

This capsule does not require any caution for hepatic impairment.

This Capsule is taken orally with food to increase the efficiency of the drug.

This Capsule should be taken at a fixed prescribed time because it is best to maintain dosage.

Don’t open the capsule.

Swallow the capsule as a whole.

The use of Oseltamivir capsules in children below 1 year is not recommended                                           

This capsule has only been used in few patients 65 years or older. Dosage and usage are similar to adults. Discuss with your physician before usage.

Infertility :

 This capsule causes decrease sperm count and immobile sperms. Consult your physician

Blood disorders :

This capsule causes anaemia, granulocytopenia, and thrombocytopenia. Monitor blood levels before and during treatment.

Diabetic :

Any sign of infection – fever or lymph node enlargement or cough associated with upper or lower respiratory tract infection

Skin reactions :

 It can be mild to severe like Stevens-Johnson Syndrome and toxic epidermal necrolysis.

This capsule is taken orally at a prescribed dosage at a specific time regularly with food. If the capsule is taken separately the efficiency of the drug is reduced significantly, thus it is ill-advised.

Drug-Food Interaction

It can be safely taken with any type of food, if doubts arise kindly refer to your physician. It generally causes serious side effects thus it are advised not to be taken with alcohol. Oseltaflu75mg capsule is preferred to drive or operate heavy machinery with caution while using.

Drug-Disease Interaction

Hepatic impairment :

There is no dose adjustment required for the patient with mild to moderate liver disease (Hepatic impairment). The pharmacokinetics and safety profile of oseltamivir has not been evaluated for the patient with severe hepatic impairment.

Renal Impairment :

The patient with a creatinine clearance level between 10 and 30mL/min need the dose adjustment of Oseltamivir.

There is no dose adjustment available for the patient undergoing routine hemodialysis or peritoneal dialysis treatment for a longer period of time.

Overdosage of capsule causes seizure Consult your physician immediately

You can take the missed dosage if you notice before half the time to your next dosage. If it is more than 12 hours, then skip the dosage and take the next doses as usual, Don’t take a double dose for a forgotten dose.
