Oxybro Plus Tablet SR contains Acebrophylline 200mg and Montelukast 10mg is a combination of two medicines to prevent and treat asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and it also helps to get relieve allergic symptoms such as runny, and stuffy nose, sneezing, watery eyes, congestion, or stuffiness. The combination of this medicine produces its action by relaxing the muscles of your air passages which makes you breathe easier.

It is used in the treatment of asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and allergic symptoms.

Asthma 

It is also called bronchial asthma. It is a condition in which your airway becomes narrow and inflamed and may produce extra mucus. Symptoms include shortness of breath, wheezing, chest tightness, chronic cough

Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease 

It is a chronic inflammatory lung disease that blocks the airflow from the lungs. The main cause of this is tobacco smoking and exposure to fumes from burning fuel for cooking. Symptoms include shortness of breath, wheezing, chest tightness, chronic cough, frequent respiratory infection, weight loss, and swelling in ankles, feet, or legs.  

Allergic conditions

• The use of this medicine may cause neuropsychiatric events including agitation, aggression, depression, disturbance in attention, insomnia, irritability, memory impairment, suicidal thinking, and behavior 
• Therapy should be administered with caution in patients with phenylketonuria 
• Inhaled corticosteroids may be reduced gradually 
• Acebrophylline clearance may decrease in patients who are with congestive heart failure, acute pulmonary edema, hepatic disease, hypothyroidism, cirrhosis, and fever.  
• Therapy should be administered with caution in patients with hyperthyroidism, cardiac arrhythmia, seizure clearance, and cystic fibrosis

• You have a history of liver disease 
• You are not responding to the treatment 
• You have experienced any allergic reactions like rashes and itching 
• You have a history of heart attack

Drug-Drug Interaction

Apalutamide + Montelukast 

Use alternative drugs because the use of apalutamide will decrease the effect of montelukast by affecting the hepatic or intestinal enzyme metabolism.  

Cannabidiol + Montelukast 

Therapy should be administered with caution because the use of cannabidiol will increase the effect of montelukast by decreasing its metabolism 

Dronedarone + Montelukast 

The use of dronedarone will increase the effect of montelukast by affecting its hepatic and intestinal enzyme 

Alpelisib + Montelukast 

Therapy should be administered with caution because the use of alpelisib will decrease the effect of montelukast by pharmacodynamic synergism  

Dipyridamole + Acebrophylline 

It is contraindicated to use this medicine because the use of Acebrophylline decreases the effect of dipyridamole by pharmacodynamic antagonism  

abametapir + Acebrophylline 

Use alternative drugs because the use of abametpir will increase the effect of Acebrophylline by affecting its hepatic and intestinal enzymes 

allopurinol + Acebrophylline 

Use alternative drugs because the use of allopurinol increases the effect of Acebrophylline by decreasing its metabolism  

Carbamazepine + Acebrophylline 

Use alternative drugs because the use of Acebrophylline decreases the effect of carbamazepine by increasing its metabolism  

Dichlorphenamide + Acebrophylline 

Therapy should be administered with caution because the combination of this medicine decreases the serum potassium  

Methimazole + Acebrophylline 

Therapy should be administered with caution because the use of methimazole increases the effect of Acebrophylline by decreasing its metabolism

Drug-Food Interaction

Caffeine 

The use of this medicine along with caffeine may alter the blood level of this medicine and increase the side effects of Acebrophylline which cause nausea, vomiting, insomnia, tremors, restlessness, uneven heartbeats, and seizure.

Drug-Disease Interaction

Neuropsychiatric disorders + Montelukast 

Therapy should be administered with caution because the use of this medicine is associated with neuropsychiatric events  

Liver disorder + Montelukast 

Therapy should be administered with caution because the use of this medicine may cause cholestatic hepatitis, hepatocellular liver-injury  

Pulmonary disorders + Montelukast 

Therapy should be administered with caution in patients with a history of pulmonary disorders because the patients with asthma are on therapy with this medicine with eosinophilia.  

Peptic ulcer diseases + Acebrophylline: 

Therapy should be administered with caution in patients with active ulcer disease because the use of this medicine stimulates peptic acid secretion  

Renal dysfunction + Acebrophylline: 

Therapy should be administered with caution in patients with impaired kidney function because the use of this medicine increases the risk of renal toxicity  

Gastroesophageal reflux disease + Acebrophylline 

Therapy should be administered with caution in patients with gastroesophageal reflux because the use of this medicine may increase gastric acidity and relax the lower esophageal sphincter 

Take the medicine as directed by the doctor don’t overdose on the medicine. If you have taken an overdose on this medicine immediately meet the doctor and rush to the nearby hospital.

It is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Don’t take the extra dose take the regular dose immediately. Don’t use the two-dose at one time (Double Dose).

• Do not discontinue the medicine without consulting with your doctor  
• Kindly inform your doctor if you have a history of liver, kidney or heart disease.
