    Pylokit - AC contains Clarithromycin (500mg), Amoxicillin (750mg) and Esomeprazole (40mg) used to treat conditions like a Peptic ulcer. Esomeprazole is a proton pump inhibitor, and anti-ulcer agent used to relieve acid-related indigestion and heartburn in the stomach. Amoxycillin is an antibiotic that inhibits the growth of bacteria. Clarithromycin is an antibiotic that inhibits the growth of bacteria. This combination decreases the acid secretion from the stomach and kills the ulcer-causing bacteria H.pylori. Swallow the whole tablet at once. Don’t break, chew, or crush the tablet

Esomeprazole is a proton pump inhibitor. It produces its action by inhibiting the H+/K+ ATP pumps which are released by parietal cells in the stomach for gastric acid secretion. By blocking these pumps reduce the acid secretion in the stomach and helps to get relief from the acidity. Amoxicillin is a penicillin derivative that has a bactericidal effect by killing the bacterial cell wall which is needed for the multiplication of bacteria.

    • Long term use may cause Cutaneous lupus erythematosus and systemic lupus erythematosus

    How to Take Pylokit - AC

    It should be taken on an empty stomach, at least one hour before the meal as prescribed by the doctor. Take this medicine at a regular interval of time. It is better, try to finish your dinner as earlier as possible at least 2 – 3 hours before going to the bed, which leads to the reduction of acid secretion in the stomach.

    Drug Interaction of Pylokit - AC

    Drug-Drug Interaction

    Erlotinib

    The use of this medicine is contraindicated because the combination of the anti-ulcer drug with erlotinib may alter the upper stomach Ph and decrease its metabolism of medicine.

    Atazanavir:

    The use of Esomeprazole decreases the effect of atazanavir by increasing the gastric Ph. Use alternative drugs also reduce the concentration of drug

    Methotrexate:

    Therapy should be administered with caution because the use of Omeprazole increases the effect of methotrexate by decreasing its renal clearance. At a higher dose, it increases the risk of developing toxicity.

    Chloroquine

    The use of this medicine is contraindicated because the use of Chloroquine increases the toxicity of clarithromycin by Qtc interval

    Alprazolam

    Use alternative drugs because the use of clarithromycin increases the effect of alprazolam by affecting hepatic and intestinal enzyme metabolism.

    Acyclovir

    Therapy should be administered with caution because the combination of this drug either increases the level of the other by decreasing renal clearance.

    Aspirin

    Therapy should be administered with caution because the combination of this drug either increases the level of the other by plasma protein binding

    Drug-Food Interaction

    By using this medicine with food should be maintained time gap at least 1 hour before the meals for better effectiveness of the medicine. By using this medicine with spicy, fatty foods, alcohol, caffeinated drinks, or beverages such as coffee, tea, cola, etc, should be avoided for better effectiveness of the medicine.

    Myasthenia gravis:

    Therapy should be administered with caution in a patient with a history of myasthenia gravis because the use of this medicine may increase the risk of developing the symptoms of myasthenia gravis

    QT prolongation:

    Therapy should be administered with caution because the patients with congenital long QT syndrome, bradyarrhythmias, proarrhythmic conditions, hypokalemia, hypomagnesemia may develop prolonged cardiac repolarization and QT interval who are receiving this medicine.

    Diabetes:

    The use of this drug may produce false-positive reactions when you are testing for glucose levels in your urine. So, it is recommended to do the glucose test by the enzymatic glucose oxidase reaction

    Hemodialysis:

    During Hemodialysis penicillin antibiotics get removed from the body. So doses should be rescheduled after the dialysis process

    Mononucleosis:

    Amoxicillin should not be used in patients with mononucleosis because they develop pruritic erythematous maculopapular skin rash which occurs after 5-10 days of therapy


    Over Dose

    Take the medicine as directed by the doctor don’t overdose on the medicine. If you have taken an overdose of this medicine immediately meet the doctor and rush to the nearby hospital.


    Missed Dose

    Take the medicine as directed by the doctor. Do not skip the medicine, if you forgot to take the medicine or missed the dose. It is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Don’t take the extra dose take the regular dose immediately. Don’t use the two-dose at one time (Double Dose).
