    Medical Description of Resihance 40mg Tablet

    Resihance 40mg Tablet contains Regorafenib 40mg it’s an antineoplastic and tyrosine kinase inhibitor. It inhibits the signalling process required for the multiplication of abnormal cancer cells. Resihance 40mg Tablet is used in the treatment of colorectal cancer, hepatocellular carcinoma, and gastrointestinal stromal tumor. This medication is recommended for adults only.

    Resihance 40mg Tablet Indication

    Resihance 40mg Tablet is used in adults for the treatment of:

    • Colorectal cancer is metastatic and pre-treated with fluoropyrimidine, oxaliplatin, irinotecan-based chemotherapy
    • Gastrointestinal stromal tumor which is locally advanced, unresectable, metastatic and pre-treated with imatinib mesylate and sunitinib
    • Hepatocellular carcinoma who are pre-treated with sorafenib


    Mechanism of action of Resihance 40mg Tablet

    Regorafenib is an antineoplastic, antiangiogenic and tyrosine kinase inhibitor. It acts on extracellular and intracellular receptors that contain tyrosine. The active metabolites like M2 and M5 inhibit the activity of RET, VEGFR, KIT, PDGFR, DDR2, and BRAF. It inhibits tyrosine kinase present in receptors thus signalling processes required for angiogenesis and proliferation of abnormal cells is inhibited. It shrinks the abnormal cells and minimises metastasis thus treats and controls cancers.


    How Resihance 40mg Tablet works

    Regorafenib is an antineoplastic, antiangiogenic and tyrosine kinase inhibitor. It inhibits tyrosine containing intracellular and extracellular receptors thus the signalling process for angiogenesis and proliferation of abnormal cells is inhibited. It minimises the growth of abnormal cancer cells and terminates metastasis of tumors or cancers.

    Absolute contraindication:

    • if you are allergic to Resihance 40mg (Regorafenib 40mg) Tablet or its constituents
    • if you are taking any vaccines
    • if you are pregnant
    • if you are breastfeeding
    • if you are less than 18 years of age

    Relative contraindication:

    • if you have a liver disorder
    • if you have a haemorrhagic disorder
    • if you have a heart disorder
    • if you have renal disorder

    Common side effects that occur 1:10 patients: Anemia, Increased AST/ALT, Asthenia, Proteinuria, Hypocalcemia, Hypophosphatemia, Lymphopenia, Decreased appetite and food intake, Increased lipase/amylase, Hyperbilirubinemia, Diarrhea, Thrombocytopenia, Mucositis, Weight loss, Infection, Hypertension, Dysphonia, Hyponatremia, Pain, Fever, Rash, Hypokalemia, Increased INR, Hemorrhage, Nausea, Proteinuria, Alopecia, Hypothyroidism, Neutropenia, Muscle spasms

    Rare side effects that occur 1:1,000 patients: Anaphylactic shock, angioedema, urticaria, Stevens-Johnson Syndrome, nephrotic syndrome, cardiac failure, arterial aneurysm/dissection/rupture

    How to Take Resihance 40mg Tablet

    This tablet is taken orally; It must be taken at the same time once a day as prescribed by your physician; It must be swallowed as a whole; Don’t chew or crush this tablet.

    After therapy has been initiated, do not take more or less of the Regorafenib drug than prescribed or stop taking it without your physicians’ approval. Skipping or changing the Regorafenib dose without approval may cause adverse effects making the condition more difficult to treat, or worsen side effects.


    Use of Resihance 40mg Tablet in Adult

    If you are pregnant or breastfeeding inform your physician as they are not advisable.


    Use of Resihance 40mg Tablet in children

    This tablet is not recommended in children


    Use of Resihance 40mg Tablet in Elderly Patients

    This tablet has only been used in few patients 65 years or older. Dosage and usage are similar to adults. Discuss with your physician before usage.

    General instructions

    Resihance 40mg Tablet is taken orally as prescribed dosage at a specific time regularly with or without food. Do not drink grape juice or eat grapefruit.

    Drug-Food Interaction

    Avoid eating grapefruit or drink grape juice. To avoid diarrhea, take small sips of sugar-free drinks or take small amounts of meals or take spicy food with this medication. This medication can be taken with or without food, if doubts arise kindly refer to your physician. It is best to take low-fat meal. This medication generally causes side effects thus it is advised not to be taken with alcohol. It is preferred to drive or operate heavy machinery with caution.

    Over Dose

    Missed Dose

    You can take the missed dosage if you notice within 12 hours. If it is more than 12 hours, then skip the dosage and take the next doses as usual. Don’t take a double dose for a forgotten dose.
