    Shanvudin Tablet contains Lamivudine 100mg. Shanvudin (Lamivudine (100mg)) tablet is an antiviral medicine used in the treatment of Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) – 1 infection. It is a nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitor. Shanvudin tablet improves your immune system and reduces the risk of conditions associated with HIV infection. Shanvudin tablet is used in combination with other antivirals for efficiency. It is not used in cases of HBV.

    Shanvudin (Lamivudine (100mg)) tablet is used to treat adults and children above 14kgs weight who are infected by HIV-1. It must be taken in combination with other anti-HIV medicines. Your doctor will discuss which combination of medicines is best for you.

    Mechanism of action of Shanvudin 100mg Tablet

    Shanvudin (Lamivudine (100mg)) tablet is HIV-1 nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitor. Lamivudine is phosphorylated to its active forms Shanvudin tablet triphosphate that is incorporated into the nucleotide and inhibits the action of HIV-1 reverse transcriptase. Thus, the active HIV molecule becomes inactive and further reproduction and multiplication process is stopped.


    How Shanvudin 100mg Tablet works

    Shanvudin (Lamivudine (100mg)) tablet inhibits the action of HIV-1 reverse transcriptase enzyme by incorporating themselves into the nucleotide sequence thus inhibits the action of the reverse transcriptase of HIV-1, thereby preventing the formation of mature virus particles into infectious virions that spreads the infection and improves immunity.

    • Skin reactions - It can be mild to severe like Stevens-Johnson Syndrome and toxic epidermal necrolysis.
    • Musculoskeletal problems - Osteonecrosis that causes joint stiffness and pain in larger joints like shoulder, hip, and knee
    • New onset diabetes mellitus or hyperglycemia – Monitor blood glucose and insulin levels. When needed add oral hypoglycemic and insulin
    • Accumulation or Redistribution of body fat or

    Missed Dose

    If you take once a day dosage, then the missed dosage if you notice within 12 hours. If it is more than 12 hours, then skip the dosage and take the next doses as usual. If you take twice a day dosage, then the missed dosage if you notice within 6 hours. If it is more than 6 hours, then skip the dosage and take the next doses as usual.
