    Stricarb 150mg Injection contains Carboplatin 150mg it’s an antineoplastic medication and alkylating agent. It is a platinum analogue. It is used in the treatment of ovarian cancer. It is used as an orphan drug in the advanced stages of cervical cancer, endometrial cancer, esophageal cancer, head and neck cancer, melanoma, non-small cell lung cancer, sarcoma, small cell lung cancer, testicular cancer, and thymoma. It is also used as an orphan drug in metastatic breast cancer and neuroendocrine carcinoma of the skin.

    Stricarb 150mg Injection is used in the treatment of advanced ovarian cancer. It is not used in neonates. It is also used as an orphan drug in several cancers and leukemia.

    Mechanism of action of Stricarb 150mg Injection

    Carboplatin is an alkylating medication. It causes intra- and inter-strand crosslinks between DNA bases causing break in DNA strand thus apoptosis is induced resulting in cell death of abnormal DNA containing cancer cells.

    Carboplatin is an antineoplastic and alkylating medication. It causes DNA base pairs to break inducing apoptosis of these abnormal cancer cells.

    Uncommon side effects that occur 1:100 patients:Edema, Neutropenia, Pharyngolaryngeal dysesthesia, Anaphylactic-like reaction, Pulmonary fibrosis,hypokalemia

    How to Take Stricarb 150mg Injection

    This injection is used only in the presence of physician; Do not shake medicine containing vial while diluting or infusing; It is compatible with D5W; Do not use NS or chloride containing solutions; It is infused into 250-500ml of D5W and administered as slow infusion; Refrigerate unopened or opened 8?C

    After therapy has been initiated, do not take more or less of this drug than prescribed or stop taking it without your physicians’ approval. Skipping or changing your dose without approval may cause adverse effects making the condition more difficult to treat, or worsen side effects.


    Use of Stricarb 150mg Injection in Adult

    If you are pregnant or breastfeeding inform your physician as they are not advisable.


    Use of Stricarb 150mg Injection in children

    This injection is not recommended in children less than 2 years of age. If used to be done so only with caution.


    Use of Stricarb 150mg Injection in Elderly Patients

    This injection has only been used in few patients 65 years or older. Dosage and usage are similar to adults. Discuss with your physician before usage.

    • Allergic reactions - It can be mild hypersensitivity and angioedema to severe like Stevens-Johnson Syndrome and toxic epidermal necrolysis.
    • Renal toxicity – impaired renal clearance

    Severity of ototoxicity and nephrotoxicity is increased by Capreomycin, Dihydrostreptomycin, Gentamicin

    Severity of bleeding is increased by Abciximab, Antithrombin Alfa

    This medication can be taken with any type of food, if doubts arise kindly refer to your physician. It generally causes side effects thus it is advised not to be taken with alcohol. It is preferred to drive or operate heavy machinery with caution. Do not smoke while taking this medication. Do not use tobacco while taking this medication.
