    Synclar Paediatric Dry Syrup contains Clarithromycin 125mg used to treat bacterial infections such as Bronchitis, Community-acquired pneumonia, Tonsillitis/Pharyngitis, Sinusitis, Otitis media, Skin and skin structure infections, and Peptic ulcer disease. Clarithromycin 125mg is an antibiotic used to treat various bacterial infections in children. Mainly this bacterial infection targets the respiratory tract, ear, nose, throat, lungs, and skin. It is also used to treat bacterial infections that occur in children who are with HIV due to their weak immune systems and it is also effective against H.pylori-associated peptic ulcer diseases. This medicine is not used for common flu and cold symptoms that occur due to viral infections. This medicine is commonly prescribed for cough and colds caused by bacterial infections.

    • Combination with HMG-CoA reductase inhibitors (statins) metabolized by CYP3A4 due to an increased risk of developing myopathy including rhabdomyolysis

    Drug Interaction of Synclar Paediatric Dry Syrup

    Drug-Drug Interaction

    BCG vaccine live

    The use of this drug is contraindicated because the use of medicine decreases the effect of the BCG vaccine live by pharmacodynamic antagonism

    Cabergoline

    The use of this medicine is contraindicated because the use of clarithromycin may increase the effect of cabergoline by decreasing its metabolism.

    Chloroquine

    The use of this medicine is contraindicated because the use of chloroquine increases the toxicity of clarithromycin by QTc interval

    Lovastatin

    The use of clarithromycin will increase the effect of lovastatin by P-glycoprotein efflux transporter

    Aripiprazole

    Use alternative drugs because the use of clarithromycin will increase the effect of aripiprazole by affecting hepatic or intestinal enzyme metabolism

    Digoxin

    Therapy should be administered with caution because the use of clarithromycin will increase the effect of digoxin by P-glycoprotein efflux transporter

    Drug-Food Interaction

    The use of grape juice along with clarithromycin may affect gastrointestinal absorption and it also inhibits the metabolism of clarithromycin.

    Drug-Disease Interaction

    Gastrointestinal diseases

    It should be used with caution in patients with gastrointestinal diseases, particularly colitis (infection to the inner lining of the colon). It will lead to worsening the patient’s health condition. If you are noticed severe diarrhea, abdominal pain, blood in stools, etc. immediately inform the doctor. Based on the patient clinical condition, dose adjustment is needed.

    QT Prolongation

    Therapy should be administered with caution because the use of clarithromycin may cause prolonged cardiac repolarization, QT interval in patients who are having a history of congenital long QT syndrome, bradyarrhythmias, proarrhythmic conditions such as uncorrected hypokalemia, hypomagnesemia

    Renal dysfunction

    Clarithromycin should be administered with caution because the use of this medicine gets eliminated by the kidney. It is not necessary to adjust the dose in patients with mild to moderate renal impairment.

    Myasthenia gravis

    Therapy should be administered with caution in patients with a history of myasthenia gravis because the use of macrolide antibiotics may worsen the conditions
