Talfatrax E contains Emtricitabine 200mg and Tenofovir Alafenamide 25mg.Talfatrax E (Emtricitabine (200mg) + Tenofovir Alafenamide (25mg)) tablet is an antiviral medication. Talfatrax E tablet contains two nucleoside analogue reverse transcriptase inhibitor used in the treatment of HIV-1 infection.

Talfatrax E tablet can be safely used in children above 35Kgs and adults. Talfatrax E tablet is not recommended as pre-exposure prophylaxis for HIV-1 infection.

Mechanism of action of Talfatrax E Tablet
Talfatrax E (Emtricitabine (200mg) + Tenofovir Alafenamide (25mg)) tablet is a nucleotide reverse transcriptase inhibitor. Tenofovir Alafenamide present in Talfatrax E (Emtricitabine (200mg) + Tenofovir Alafenamide (25mg)) tablet enters hepatocytes where it is converted to tenofovir by hydrolysis. Hepatocyte tenofovir is then phosphorylated into tenofovir diphosphate that incorporates themselves into the DNA strand thus stops the replication of viral particles. Emtricitabine present in Talfatrax E tablet is an analogue of cytidine is phosphorylated to its active form. Emtricitabine 5 triphosphate inhibits the activity of HIV-1 reverse transcriptase and incorporates themselves into the DNA thus results in the termination of the replication process. Thus, the active HIV molecules become inactive and further reproduction and multiplication process is stopped.

Over Dose

Missed Dose
If you are treated with Talfatrax E (Emtricitabine (200mg) + Tenofovir Alafenamide (25mg)) tablet for HIV infection you can take the missed dose if you notice within 12 hours if you take them once a day. If it is more than 12 hours, then skip the dosage and take the next doses as usual.
