    Thycad 50mg Capsule contains Thalidomide 50mg used to treat Erythema nodosum leprosum and multiple myeloma. It works by altering our immune system and indirectly attacking the cancer cells and inhibiting the growth and multiplication of cancer cells.

    It is also called Kahler’s disease. It is a type of cancer that occurs in a plasma cell. In this condition, cancer gets accumulated in the bone marrow and affects healthy blood cells. Symptoms include constipation, loss of appetite, fatigue, bone pain, weight loss, frequent infections, excessive thirst, and numbness in your legs.

    Erythema nodosum leprosum

    It is an inflammatory skin disorder that is located in a fatty layer of the skin, It usually occurs if you have taken medications like sulfa-related drugs, birth control, strep throat, fungal diseases, infectious mononucleosis. Symptoms include joint pain, sore throat, weight loss, stomach pain, diarrhea, fever, and fatigue.

    Mechanism of action of Thycad 50mg Capsule

    Thycad 50mg Capsule contains Thalidomide 50mg is an anti-cancer medication, an angiogenesis inhibitor. It produces its action by acting on tumor necrosis factor (TNF) alpha and down-regulates the function of adhesion of leukocytes to surface molecules.  Thalidomide also acts as a vascular endothelial growth factor receptor inhibitor (VEGFR) by inhibiting the signaling process required for angiogenic activity of abnormal cancer cells. Thus, it inhibits proliferation and increases apoptosis of abnormal cancer cells.

    Thycad 50mg Capsule contains Thalidomide 50mg is an anti-cancer medication, an angiogenesis inhibitor. It produces its action by inhibiting TNF alpha by down-regulating adhesion of leukocytes and inhibits VEGFR thus blood supply to abnormal cells is reduced. Thus, it inhibits proliferation and induces apoptosis of abnormal cancer cells.

    Drug-Drug Interaction

    Anakinra

    It is contraindicated to use this medicine because the use of anakinra increases the effect of thalidomide and the combination of this medicine increase the risk of developing an infection

    Deferiprone

    Use alternative drug because the combination of this medicine either increases the toxicity of the other by pharmacodynamic synergism

    Cholera vaccine

    Therapy should be administered with caution because the use of thalidomide decreases the effect of cholera vaccine by immunosuppressive effects and it also increases the risk of developing an infection

    Lemborexant

    Therapy should be administered with caution because the use of lemborexant will increase the effect of the thalidomide by sedation

    Drug-Food Interaction

    Consuming alcohol increases the nervous system side effects of this medicine such as dizziness, drowsiness, and difficulty in concentrating.

    Drug-Disease Interaction

    Seizures

    During the therapy with this medicine patients who are with a history of seizures should be monitored closely for any clinical changes because during post-approval use of thalidomide grand mal convulsion has been reported.

    Hypotension

    Therapy should be administered with caution because the use of thalidomide is associated with dizziness and orthostatic hypotension

    Neutropenia

    Therapy should be administered with caution in patients with neutropenia because the use of this medicine has been associated with decreased white blood cells counts


    Over Dose

    Take the medicine as directed by the doctor don’t overdose on the medicine. If you have taken an overdose of this medicine immediately meet the doctor and rush to the nearby hospital.


    Missed Dose

    Take the medicine as directed by the doctor. Do not skip the medicine, if you forgot to take the medicine or missed the dose. It is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Don’t take the extra dose take the regular dose immediately.
