    Zelpod CV 200mg/125mg Tablet contains Cefpodoxime Proxetil 200mg and Clavulanic acid 125mg used to treat bacterial infections such as Urinary tract infections, Sinusitis, Tonsillitis/Pharyngitis, Community-acquired pneumonia, Skin, and Soft tissue infection, Otitis media, and Gonorrhea. Mainly this medicine targets the lungs, urinary tract, ear, nasal sinus, throat, and skin. Cefpodoxime Proxetil is an antibiotic that helps to fight against bacteria. Clavulanic acid is a beta-lactamase inhibitor that decreases resistance. The combination of this medicine helps to fight against the infection that is caused by bacteria. This medicine is not used for common flu and cold symptoms that occur due to viral infections. This medicine is commonly prescribed for cough and colds caused by bacterial infections.

    Drug Interaction of Zelpod CV 200mg/125mg Tablet

    Drug-Drug Interaction

    BCG vaccine live

    The use of this drug is contraindicated because the use of Cefpodoxime decreases the effect of the BCG vaccine live by pharmacodynamic antagonism

    Argatroban

    Use alternative drugs because the use of cefpodoxime will increase the effect of argatroban by anticoagulation

    Aluminum hydroxide

    Therapy should be administered with caution because the use of aluminum hydroxide will decrease the effect of cefpodoxime by increasing its gastric pH.

    Doxycycline

    Therapy should be administered with caution because the use of Doxycycline decreases the effect of Cefpodoxime by pharmacodynamic antagonism

    Drug-Food Interaction

    The food may increase the effect of cefpodoxime in your body so it is advised to take this tablet with food to increase the absorption

    Renal dysfunction:

    Therapy should be administered with caution because the serum concentration of the antibiotics and their metabolites may be increased and the half-lives of these drugs prolonged in patients with impaired renal function. You have to adjust the dose based on the severity of the infection.

    Liver diseases:

    Therapy should be administered with caution in patients with hepatic impairment because the use of this drug may cause hepatitis and it also increases the SGOT, SGPT, and alkaline phosphatase level

    Seizure disorders:

    Therapy should be administered with caution in patients who have a history of epilepsy because the use of this drug may stimulate seizure and it also cause encephalopathy, coma, asterixis, neuromuscular excitability, and myoclonia
