The parietal cell of the stomach contains H+/K+ ATP Pumps, which helps in acid secretion and then inhibits acid production by blocking these H+K+ ATP pumps. This action will last up to 24 hours, in between, more pumps will be produced by the stomach, which indicates the need to take the next dose to prevent the acid production in the stomach.
